Hey everybody! I need your opinions. As a beginner guitar or baritone ukulele player, which method is easier for you to know when to change chords during these songs? Audible or written chords? Thanks, Roger out!

Why not the diminished chord
@RogerTeachesMusic25 күн бұрын
Diminished chords aren't used as much now, unfortunately, so I didn't want to add that to the mix at this time. They are more common in jazz and some really cool tin pan alley music, ie, Ain't She Sweet or Yes Sir, That's My Baby. If you want to learn more about them, here's a pretty advanced video about diminished chords by a really good music educator, Jake Lizzio: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaDYnZSPmM6de6csi=r3gBYOcH4-J7me9D

I have a Super Snark tuner , when I'm tuning I never see a arrow!I either see red or green or blue. I'm assuming color blue ears I'm tuned?

I noticed a mistake at 2:06. I wrote an "F" and then "G" but it should be reversed. I'm playing a G chord and then an F. Sorry!

Hi ! First time viewer. Thank you, Thank you ! You truly covered everything & then some. So CLEAR ! Not once did I have to rewind to see or hear something better. I did PAUSE TO TAKE NOTES ! I’m not kidding either. I want to remember. This is going to save me so much time. One question Why does my G string seems to go out of tune quick. Also it doesn’t go in tune as smooth as rest of strings slightest touch of key either way, it’s out of tune. Bought guitar new 1 or 2 yrs ago & take care of it. Sounds crazy I know
@RogerTeachesMusic2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for watching! It sounds like a problem with your tuning key or how the string is wound around it. Try putting on a new string, check out some youtube vids to make sure its put on properly (sorry, I don't know if youre experienced at it!). If that doesn't fix it, the tuner may need to be replaced. Take to a reputable shop to have it checked out. Good luck!

What are all the other buttons for?
@RogerTeachesMusic2 ай бұрын
Press the round black button near the two arrows to change the reference pitch. The default is 440 Hz which is what most people use. Press the up or down triangular buttons to select a new tuning reference. Pressing the power switch again will reset the tuner to A-440 . The red button on the side brings up the metronome which is only visual. The silver button on the side toggles between the microphone or vibration method of tuning. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Tricky to remember! I had a hard time remembering that the C inversion wasn’t an F actually
@RogerTeachesMusic4 ай бұрын
Yes, C chord inversion is G, C and E, F chord is F, A and C.

This video replaces the previously recorded short. Shorts are too rushed, so I could give a little more info in a less hectic atmosphere.

Sorry, at least it's cheaper to buy if you get it online. I've only had one go bad on me and I've been using them for a while. Have you tried the phone app tuners?
@ralphtaylor81647 ай бұрын
You say that when you see the "g" on the bottom its another way of tuning. We all know that. What you did not explain is whether you are now tuning to "open G" or not. If that is what the "g" means, then say so in your explanation. please.
@RogerTeachesMusic7 ай бұрын
Sorry, G means you're tuning to the six individual strings of the guitar. When tuning the 6th string, it will register as E with a 6 to the Left bottom as long as you're close. Then you keep tightening or loosening the string according to if it shows flat or sharp, until you get the green light. Continue with A or 5 string, etc. Hope that helps.

For that last way to perform G inversion (around 4:00-4:15) is it normal to do a G major with E notes???
@RogerTeachesMusic8 ай бұрын
You are correct, an E note is not part of G chord. However, the part of the video you are referencing ( around 4:00)was discussing the C chord which is mad of C, E and G notes. thanks for watching and keep practicing.

I guess I missed this when proof reading my video. There is an error evident on the thumbnail and therefore in the video. When I notated the 8th note pattern for the C chord, I noted the third note as a D note, instead of an E note. It is correctly labeled below it. My apologies and thanks for watching!
