So when I want to shut the door for the night on an empty bin when I'm cleaning the floor out, I have to shut all the interior doors first. That's handy.

What about radon and ground moisture rising through that gravel floor? Plus I can envision an obvious need for a rat-wall. A sealed floor could be the answer to those concerns plus adding weight to the bottom seems like a perfect way to add ballast and structural strength.

Fair to middlin' explanation. Please do a multisection cutaway to illustrate the heat delivery from the plenum to the hot air triangles to the full width of the grain column and the exhaust flow. Also show air and corn flow for screen dryers. What is the range of recycled heat in BTU/bu from the dried grain outlet air preheater? Since there is really nothing special about preheating combustion air do other manufacturers also have a grain cooling / air preheater sections?

I don't undertand how constricting air flow through the system induces more cooling of the grain ? What am I missing and not comprehending? Thank you for SHARING THE KNOWlEDGE ! Regards.

The total amount of combustion air doesn't change. The feature being touted is that some percentage of the combustion air is first drawn across the hot grain. This cools the grain leaving the dryer and raises the average temperature of the combustion supply air. To pull air through the hot corn requires more fan horsepower. No, I cannot estimate how much additional cost to pull air through exiting corn column. That increased fan motor amps is compared to how many BTUs of fuel are saved by preheating the combustion air. I don't understand why one wouldn't always pull as much air through the hot corn as possible. As a rule of thumb most processes cannot preheat combustion air too much. So I also don't understand why preheating combustion air wouldn't be a long-time feature of every corn dryer. Yes, I'm an engineer. No, I was never a farmer.
