A saw TBS in 1992. Blew my tiny little mind. Then I met Paul and Brianna outside after the gig. Super cool. Signed his cheat sheet for the Domino Man lyrics. I met the man who taught me to sing. And I had a couple indie albums out. One song I sang was compared to The Housemartins in a review. Greatest honor ever.

Paul, this is the song I co wrote. My dream was to hear you sing it. Pardon the crappy guitars…haha…
Don't know why I hadn't listened to these podcasts before now, but well worth it. It was funny you gave a shout-out to the Croydon Greyhound and seeing The Jam there. I saw them there also on the Modern World Tour in 1977.

Pure truth and your man dosent like it...Thatcher was an evil person, she destroyed lives and didn't care about the many deaths she contributed to

Nice twist on words to put forward ones own bitching when everyone else is innocent and it was all her fault. Keep writing songs and keep your nose out of Politics because your opinion is both unreal and very un-necessary.

I wonder if Heaton would have sent a task force to reclaim the Falklands in'82?

I loved that the Billy Elliott musical in London didn't cancel the performance on the day she died. The musical that included the song with the lyrics, "Happy Xmas Maggie Thatcher, may God's love be with you, we all celebrate today, because it's 1 day closer to your death" Brilliant.

How can they have been so freaking good? I'm serious / as an American in Atlanta, Georgia / I'm embarrassed that it took Spotify to introduce me to these super stars. Love them and The Beautiful South! We may have won the war, but we've lost so, so many battles. :0)

Just learning of this artist and songs. So big in UK yet never heard of in US.I like how all his themes and filming locations are everyday Britain yet a world unbeknownst to me.

Nelson Mandela was a terrorist, though. Complete fuckin scumbag. Thatcher may not have been the greatest Prime Minister but what was the other option? That communist Michael Foot? The only one worse than him was Jeremy Corbyn

She destroyed so much that was good about Britain and the current political economic situation, where wealth is more concentrated in the hands of the few, privatisation of nationalised industries has brought corruption and chaos in ever more expensive and badly delivered services and markets and corporations are now more powerful than nations, is down to her.

WTF did this northern asshole ever do for the country???? Thatcher did a good job of recifying all the communist union jobs for the boys and stopped the government being a slave to the unions. She liberated the working class by allowing them to raise equity from their homes. Fk these self rigteous trendy wankers, they are all capitlists really its just a good look to be a table top commie.

Thatcher was a pawn to the lobbyists like most politicians. Her pathetic denialism and bolstering of the ruling classes pulled the wool over the eyes of anyone without a mortgage, so oldies who were paid up or the rich loved her... And on we go with the Tories.

I absolutely love this song. It is so heart wrenching. I shed a tear everytime I listen to it. Paul Heaton is such a genius. His song writing sadly doesn't get half the credit it deserves. I love how in the lyrics Paul writes about the impact of losing your child has on the wider family including grandma and grandpa. The pain this loss must have on you I can't bear to imagine 😢

I came back to hear this again after hearing the story of someone exploited by the show. It really is awful when you look into it. Not just the editing and the way they set people up but the contracts they have these kids sign that's tantamount to slavery. They have to give up the rights to all material they have released even before they go on the show. They literally had to sign their lives over to creepy Cowell.
