Does your community offer handicapped curbside service or not? Will your employee stop their truck, get out of their truck and come get the resident's garbage can, roll it out to the street, empty the can, roll the can back to the resident's house and park it where it was located? The resident would have to supply a letter signed by their doctor stating why they cannot roll their can out to the street themselves like they have a bad heart, a bad knee, etc.

Lying is not a quality you want in a LEO. And ANY public area is the proper grounds for for these disgusting behaviors to voiced. I know the city thinks its being besmirched by a "rude" act, but thanks to this mans bravery the public knows this officer is not one of "the good guys". Nothing. His conduct is in question because he didn’t use the appropriate venue. 1-he overstepped his authority as a commissioner & 2-disrespected all those officers receiving awards. The officer was tried and convicted in the view of public opinion.

Mr. Gelin spoke truth, whether the specific police officer in question was humiliated we don’t know but one hopes so. Considering what that manipulative and dishonest officer did , he got off easy. This shouldn’t be a reflection on other participating law enforcement, and they along with the community as a whole shouldn’t stand by the officer blindly. Mr. Mexico let’s hope you never get falsely arrested, by someone with the mentality and morals of the bad officer in question.

Mr. Gelin is most definitely not a phony. He’s a genuine man speaking out against his bully. This bully, a bad police officer manipulated law and filed a false police report to put a man ‘in his place’. Mr. Gelin is clearly a man standing up for himself, and thanks to this man’s actions a spotlight is shining on the police department. Rather then wrongly shame and scold Mr. Gelin, all should look at the specific bad conduct by the officer.

However, this does not excuse the ill actions of the specific officer in question. Consider what Mr. Gelin has gone through. Take a moment and consider it. Being falsely arrested from start to finish. Again falsely arrested. An officer who does not serve and protect, manipulates law and language to arrest a law abiding citizen in order to bring a man to heel as one would a dog. The bad officer’s ego and abuse of the powers granted to him* Are shameful. You shouldn’t defend a bad police officer.

You could have pulled him aside after the ceremony and made a comment. Because of your negligent act, you've disgraced yourself and lost respect to those who also hold a public office. Considering what this man went through with the officer in question, arguably a disgrace to his uniform, as much as it appears to be the case. This should not reflect badly on law abiding officers true to their oath to serve and protect. What Mr. Gelin said was necessary. Perhaps in the moment, but still necessary, may this highlighted story now nation wide shine a light of truth.

It's interesting how he waited so long to make a production out of the situation clearly presenting an underlying message. All the commissioner did was make himself a political target, and a fool with no class. His actions are equally comparable to our current administration. In conclusion you've failed to recognize, gather or research any testimony from the officer/report/staff as well (not exactly fair and impartial, it's mostly one-sided). I agree it was necessary but not in that arena. I could sense the tension from everyone in that room including his colleagues. Just because someone cuts in front of you in line at Target doesn't mean you yell at the top of your lungs "calling them out on it." It's essentially the same thing.

Steven A Mr. Gelin did a brave and admirable thing; which was to shine light on the wrongs of sheriff deputy Joshua Gallardo. Good law enforcement should be admired and commended. Joshua Gallard should reflect on his actions against a law abiding citizen. Manipulating law,language, and a police report to paint Mr. Gelin as a criminal to justify a false arrest.
