I just started reading the manga and Miki and the gang are MUCH more vulgar in the manga version of this scene. It shocked me but it really makes you root for Takumi more. Takumi did nothing wrong. 😂

Funimation did a better job overall (though they didn't know much more about cars than Tokyopop), and they kept the Eurobeat as well. That said, Bunta's VA for the Tokyopop dub sounds slightly more appropriate.

Yeah, Funimation! Tokyo Pop seems more like an angry dad imitating a mad teenager from the 80s. Sabat gives him more of an authoritative, disappointed big bro, and sounds more like a man in his 20s.

I liked some of the Funimation voice acting more than the TOKYOPOP dub. Kyoichi and Seiji sounded better in Funimation than TOKYOPOP. Also, the fact that TOKYOPOP renamed them Hawk (Seiji) and Kyle (Kyoichi)

In the TOKYOPOP dub, "Aki's" sister is named Carrie. In the original anime it's Wataru Akiyama and his sister is named Kazumi.

I grew up with the TOKYOPOP dub. I actually still have the DVDs... somewhere. I just wished that they didn't use that stock music or rename some of the characters. I think Quinton Flynn did a better job than Vic Mignogna.
