I should have noticed that the new cam chain I bought came completely connected all the way through, without a spare link. This cam chain cannot be installed without taking the entire case apart and pulling out the crankshaft (1991 CBR1000F) from the bottom (which means pulling the engine out of the bike). It appears that you can buy just the link. My old cam chain tool DID work on this cam chain and can take it apart. I was hoping to see how to mash the old links back into the chain, but I'm concerned that using a pulled link will not be sufficient hold the chain together. I'm having a hard time with "does not need to be cut to disassemble the engine". I don't want to disassemble the engine - I want to change out the cam chain. The engine is fine and doesn't need to be disassembled. My cam chain tool is from 1977 and it will work on this cam chain. This is really frustrating.

No way this video could have been put out by Alpha Moto!? Its a good wheel bearing puller/installer, but NOT for timken style tapered bearings. You just pull those out with your finger, then pound the races out with a race removal tool. Please take this video down so as not to confuse people.

There are 3 adjustment screws but 4 carburetors. Why can nobody just explain what does what? It would be self explanatory if there were 4 for 4, but there are 3 for 4.
@skeetskeet552 ай бұрын
One of the 4 carbs is the "set carb" . This means all the other carbs should be matched to the set carb that doesn't have the screw.

What are you adjusting on that carburetor to move that gage ?
@digdougedy2 ай бұрын
You are adjusting the screws that alter butterfly valve angle on the carb... Not the fuel jet screw.... There are videos on YT that show the screws better on in line 4 engines..They tend to be philips screws on Japanese engines, where fuel screws are normally flat heads..

Why didn't you leave spring in ? Won't it effect oil level ? Regards , Bill
@carlsimons168813 күн бұрын
The spec is set with fork spring removed. This does become a problem with some aftermarket springs that may occupy a different amount of volume than stock

I have a KTM 390 Duke with a non-adjustable cartridge fork. Can I simply remove the cap at the top of each tube and take out a little oil with your level tool, without disassembling the tubes from the triple clamps, etc.?
@piotrekchuma4 ай бұрын
The KTM workshop manual recommends removing the forks before any maintenance. The problem you would have to solve not disassembling the forks is to control the spring compression. If you remove both fork caps the forks will collapse and oil will spill out. If you only remove one cap at a time you will need to prop up the bike and compress the closed fork to be able to unscrew the fork cap from the compression rod from the open fork.

so I cant find a measure down for oil height on my WP Apex shocks do you have any tricks for coming up with one? Worst case Im going to measure the one that's not leaking then refill by volume and measure it again then.

QUESTION- Using this tool on an Inline 4 bank, I find it extremely difficult to feel WHEN the flat screwdriver bit is actually seated in the screw slot. This can cause problems because you can't really tell if your moving the screw or not. I usually have to remove the casrbs just to set the screws. Any hints?

You use wrong backing plate to rivet the pin... you must use small round plate. It is special plate it does not press to chain although pin itself... the plate you use it just for pressing chain by two sides as you showed before
