I definitely feel you on the "not super impressed" thing. Granted, I was playing over vacation and never quite finished, but it never really hit with me. Like, it was enjoyable to play, i was having fun with it, but tbh things never really kicked off for me, and i was never driven to play more, I played because it was the game i was playing at the time. it was like, i was just expecting more, for something that has gotten so much universal praise.

Although it's my favorite game of the year, Metaphor is basically refined amalgamation of "Atlusisms" (SMT's press turn combat, Persona calendar system, etc). So I get why someone might not feel impressed by the game considering all the praise. Metaphor is nothing revolutionary. It's just a damn good game (in my eyes) whose story strangely coincides with a tumultuous election season (which may or may not be relevant to folks). I still think it's worth 70, because if titles are only worth 70 if they're on Elden Ring or BG3's level, then nothing is worth 70. Those were generational games. All that being said, I've been enjoying the playthrough immensely so I hope it keeps going long into 2025.

Just a lil tip that'll help insanely moving forward, keep max classes equipped (unless you need to switch for team comp) because every 1000 EXP, you get a Hero's Leaf of Light which gives an Archetype 1000 EXP. This makes Archetype grinding an easier process because regular level Archetypes scale in EXP required to level, while max Archetypes always need 1000 EXP. My fault if this is backseaty, but it's a tremendous help to know this early for team comping, trust me.

i'm SO glad we addressed the failure of voice direction here. i know im like a month late but i thought a lot about ARR voice direction and how ARR VA got a lot of shit for it, and im just happy someone at least talked about it instead of just going "hur durr ARR VA bad 2000s anime dub" also about the re-dub of ARR, unfortunately they used the new cast to redub it for the FFXIV Mobile release so probably not gonna happen :( I still miss Taliesin Jaffe's voice work for Thancred, but alas
