It was really pathetic. 7 games of 3-minute Blitz is something any random chess player can do - it's about 21 minutes of moving wooden pieces around (even counting previous rounds it's less than an hour of chess played). Classical games can last 4+ hours and nobody complains about fatigue. "Tiredness" is a terrible excuse for not playing a World Championship Final to a conclusion - most players work their entire lives just to get the chance.

Even if you conclude that "If they refuse we could just play short draws ha ha" and "yeah, ha ha" is not a joke and serious collusion to fix matches (I don't want to make assumptions about bad faith because I know some people are on the spectrum and might not be able to make that differentiation), these are not actual matches, they are hypothetical ones that never took place. Comparing that to actual collusion that actually took place for a match that was actually played is a false equivelency. What actually happened is Magnus briefly spoke to Ian after their 3rd draw (no audio), then called an arbitor over and asked, "Um, is it possible for us to share first?" They are told by the Arbitor that they will find out, and then after 7 minutes, they are told that they can share first. Being disappointed there was not one winner is completely valid, but you have to be really butt-hurt to be suggesting there was lying, stealing and cheating going on.
