Hi, when my kid is shooting, his shot is often high espacially for D where we expect a low shot for many reasons. I tried to have him with both elbow out to make sure the blade finish in front instead of finishing pointing the roof. I hope my description is understandable :) Is there other things in the shooting mechanic I should pay attention ? Or any drill he should work on ? Thanks for the video

Hey! Thank you for the comment. I would tell him to over-exaggerate the turning/pointing down of the stick blade, this could possibly help. Without seeing his actual shot that would be my first thought, otherwise he could be leaning back when he shoots and not driving forward. Hope that helps!

Chest over the stick, and start the shot further back. Usually it’s either the posture (getting under the puck vs over) or the puck is too far forward.

Taking too much time setting up to shoot...once the puck hits the tape you should be shooting the puck

Yes definitely some players do it very well and others do not, it is definitely something we work towards with each individual player!

I wouldn’t state that. They are working on creating instincts more so than anything else. This will give them the ability to slow the game down. Will make a video soon explaining my philosophy!

He loses all the speed on that first stop he should make a misdirection into a punch turn instead so he keeps his speed

Definitely something that we worked on, for this particular drill, we were working on picking the puck up with the top hand only. This is a situation in which the defender is matching his speed, we hit a quick stop with a top hand dexterity pick up- hard to explain through comment

only problem is its really hard to do that....mohawk or the crosby...whatever its called but its very hard uncomfortable and can't even set my feet like that....maybe its one of those moves you have to learn as a kid.........like gymnastic...just one of those things you have to start young
