When making long trips with the boat trailer, I always have 3 spares (one on the trailer and two in the truck) and a new hub with spindle. Last year I had both right trailer tires go, one blew out and by the time I got stopped the other was almost flat. I always check hubs when I stop, also look for anything odd with lug nuts. Before every trip I check lug nuts with torque wrench and when I leave the destination headed home, check them again. When I make a long trip like NC to Florida Keys towing the bay boat a couple times a year, check lug nuts a couple times during the 900 mile trip.

You are definitely prepared! In my experience, once something like a blown set of bearings happens to you in the middle of a 14 drive; you learn to be prepared!
@chrism204223 сағат бұрын
@@markfisheroutdoors - Luckily, I was prepared last year with those blow outs on the side of busy interstate. Trailer buddy, Milwaukee impact gun and spare tires. I towed a 42' living quarters horse trailer all over the NC, TN & VA mountains for several years, found out you can never be too prepared!

My local boat shop has recommended to me to carry an Infrared temperature gauge in the truck. You just point the little dot at the area you wish to monitor temperature. They don’t cost much. They have a little pistol grip and trigger, and led screen read out.
@jeffjackson8686Күн бұрын
Yup I check them every time I stop. I was hearing a noise and thought I had a bad bearing , turns out when the tire is cold it squeaks on the pavement.
@markfisheroutdoorsКүн бұрын
You can hear bad bearings but not necessarily over other road noise.

3:06 arent those dexter/vault hubs you can't add grease just have to change them out completely since it's a sealed system. "Suppose" to last 5 years.
@dwighthaberly1199Күн бұрын
If your hub is actually hot not just warm it is too late damage is done and repair ASAP. If your adding grease their is a bad seal. Once the hub is full of grease their should be no need to add more if the seals are 100%.
@markfisheroutdoorsКүн бұрын
I agree that if the hub is hot you have a problem. My point is that you’ve identified the problem before you wind up stuck on the side of the road with a trailer you can’t move! At this point you need to get those bearings looked at ASAP

Really good info right there, I have oil bath hubs, change oil ever 3 years and tighten bearings, still good, I know people have a love/hate relationship with them, but after 12 years I’m still using original bearings and I do some long hauls, been from Okoboji to Okeechobee, and I check them by feeling hubs at every fillup and when I get to lake, cause end has got to be near!
@markfisheroutdoorsКүн бұрын
You’re right about bearing longevity but I have heard about guys who had newer bearings that had seals go bad and grease got “washed out” when they put their boat in. Like we said, just feel for heat each gas stop and you’ll always be on top of it! Thanks buddy!

I must have heard that 1,000 times in my life "A polygraph test isn't admissible in court. Not completely true. I was sitting in a courtroom when I was 13 years old as an alibi witness for a friend who had been accused of burning down an old shack. My parents were there also as witnesses because at the time of the fire he was with my family and I. He took a polygraph test and failed, not sure why but he did. Anyway, that lie detector test was entered into evidence during the trial. When we were out in the hallway during a recess we were talking to his attorney and I asked her about it. She said in some cases it can be used, especially in a case that is a bench trial mean the Judge is the fact finder woh will decide whether or not my friend was guilty or innocent. He was found not guilty. But that has stuck with me many years.

Sadly hes right because we want it to be a sport but it appears to be a huge money racket especially with equipment and electronics being thousands of dollars! It gives other anglers the illusion they MUST have FFS in order to win these tournaments. All these devices cost as much as cars do!!

You use the term money racket , I say marketing tool, but it’s all the same; help sell product! But that fact is why tournament org. Can’t/won’t hold cheaters accountable.

To learn; each of the points made during the interview have actually happened and we explain why we used this approach at the end of the video. You might want to get all the facts before you make an opinion.
@cerebraltackle6 күн бұрын
@@markfisheroutdoors no, I watched the entire thing. No disrespect intended here - but it was painful. If you want to talk facts, acknowledge clickbait. Acknowledge that it was done for views. It's insulting to people who do actual interviews, research and develop sources. I've actually spoken with several accused cheaters who will not speak with anyone else. When I first saw your video I thought holy cow, cool! He got someone on! For a moment, I was very proud of you! Then 2 seconds into the spoof, I realized what it was. From that point on, I was waiting for some earth-shattering bit of psychology that wasn't already common sense. Instead, what we got, was the same thing everyone else is thinking. It was as if you thought you discovered the formula as to why someone cheats. It's the same thing that has been repeated in my comments section since Runyan and Cominsky. Trust me, your spoof was based in opinion, not "facts". It is full of common shared opinions by many others.. but still just opinion. Don't ever try to chastise me on facts. You're biting off much more than you can chew there.
