It's great how all this came full circle in ds9 with Alexander wanting to be a true soldier and join a klingon house and worf laughing so hard at the end of an episode it cuts to the outside of the station. Him finding his best friend from his own race in martok.

Troy kinda reminds me of God of War Ragnarok's Heimdall. Heimdall can foresee the future, but his visions have ironically turned him shortsighted, with a big ego. He can't see past that single glance in the future, Which causes the fall of Asgard Troy has telepathy powers, that can read emotional states. But those powers ironically made her more difficult to connect with as a counselor, it's kinda difficult to trust your counselor when she is constantly in your head trying to read you. Compared to Guinan who you'd talk with every day just casually in ten forward, about life, problems, or even fears and has much more experience.

This is one of TNG’s best scenes! So many perfect elements! A game whose rules are obvious to a television viewer. Continuing Guinan’s character arc of being dangerous with weapons (also seen in “Night Terrors” and “I, Borg.”) Callback to Worf’s past that describes Worf’s present- though his own kid! And Whoopi Goldberg, a guest star who literally just asked for a role after Denise Crosby departed- through her friend Levar Burton.

I was just thinking,if she was so inclined she could blast from her fingertips but it would damage the simulator, maybe even the hull itself. Or at least i like to belive that she is special that way.

I absolutely HATE this scene. It shows that the writers KNEW what was wrong about Worf's character. Can you image how awesome it would have been if he hadn't been brooding 99% of the time?

I'm not a big fan of Whoopie Goldburg right now, she's a bit of a dunce, but man she was great in this role.

Star trek is generally about balance. I always read Guinan as a counterpoint to Q. Almost all powerful but with no desire to manipulate or take the spotlight. Generally sitting in the background observing and only occasionally subtly acting as a guardian angel to those who have earned it.

Well, Troi was certainly a useless character -- I don't know the "modern" Star Trek, but as far as I remember, neither DS9 nor Voyager had a "counselor" on the main team. Still, part of what Guinan allows to be such a great character is the simple fact that she's NOT a main character, merely a recurring one. Writers can bringt her in when they have a scene that's right for her, and she can be completely ignored otherwise. She does not have to sit on the bridge or attend meetings all the time. And, I'm sure writers have to double-check whether they really want/need Guinan -- she's probably not the cheapest guest star. So they can't overuse her.

this is really a great way to train to shot it would test your ability to track the target like skeet shooting as well as your reaction time by having to shut when the target is a set color
