This is a sad conversation, your country has you believing that you should want your history washed away and blend with others so your ancestry no longer has value. I love being Black and I hope there will Always be Black people walking this earth. We don't need nor want world of nothing but mixed people.

Unfortunately it's not just the UK holding these ideologies as the episode explores. We love being black too, hence why we feel it's important to have these conversations together.

If it was a Peter Tosh movie and they left out his Marijuana activism, that would be insane. Bob was a Marijuana poster child but he wasnt an activist like Tosh

I loved the movie. The only thing i would cut out from the film is their depiction of Emperor Haile Selassie. I find those scenes not only unnecessary but also disrespecful.

You are overthinking the analysis of this movie IMO. The movie you're looking for would have been about 5-6 hrs long. There are many documentaries that details the info you think are missing or inaccurate. The important thing is that the family members who were part of the production stage had to be satisfied with the film or it would not have been released. The criticism you have for the lead actors not being Jamaican is old now. I have a friends who grew up around Bob and was not comfortable with that initially either. However, as soon as they watched the movie they were comfortable and actually impressed. I'm Jamaican and its interesting that the Jamaicans I know who are not happy with the movie are mostly the ones who have not watched it yet.

Thanks for your comment. We did watch the movie and our point was if you're selling it as a biopic, it should be such...otherwise just say "loosely based on real events" that would have covered the editorial liberties taken IMO.

Interesting discussion I have not seen the film yet but I already know I’m probably not the target audience. Its going to be a difficult watch for me same as if they do a Michael Jackson movie. Nice breakdown though. I might give it a watch one day. I agree they should have cast a Jamaican in the lead role because people are always going to watch a film about Bob Marley, he is a global icon. One question though where can I get my mug 😂

I would say anyone that knows Bob Marley is not the target audience. 😂

I heard that one of the first times the govt. cared about the health of people was in WW1 when so many men were malnourished that they couldn't fight in the war. I think a lot of it is that our govt. doesnt give a fuck. I believe after WW2 people wouldn't have gone back to the old ways of poverty and they had a generation that knew how to stand up for themselve. Since most of them are now dead, they can get away with taking apart the NHS and council housing etc, and sell us on hustling like the Americans. It's interesting that politicians tell us our system doesn't work, but when Americans see the health support we get, they can't believe it. We used to have brilliant dental services, but it all had to go private because it was all going to be better. Just like everything else. And look at how we end up.

Taraji is a nice actress, I liked her role in "Hidden Figures," but IMHO I don't think she is a "top-tier" actress either...So with all due respect, she can cry all she wants, that's not gonna change anything...She needs to step out into some other roles that won't limit her appeal to the masses & that's where the bigger paychecks & notoriety will come from!!! Mic-Drop!!! 🎤
