JT is 1b/dh. While he did get into LF & even a few games at 3B, that was to get Clifford at 1b and keep JT's bat in the lineup and see whatever, but those also went to show he's 1B only. Acuna hell yes. Baty: encouraged that he was able to do better after his demotion, hit some dingers. His 2B/LF is not for real, he's 3B only. Clifford footwork seemed to be a struggle, think he needs a LOT of work around the bag; he also seemed uncomfortable in the OF. Unless he makes major strides he's also a DH. Smith was injured in RF. Glad he bounced back it looked brutal at the time. Baro: sweet swing! fast riser hopefully... Nice Eli update! You saying Thornton as a RP? I see him as a SP who in the mode of low Minors will piggyback but still in the SP mold. We shall see.. he's solid. Nice job, bring your IFA guy on for a session maybe talk this year and past high profile dudes still toiling- rough Y1 for some of those guys.

every year they have a meeting of inning opportunity and being fresh, it can be up or down, but the way Syr was at that time they had the need so Ramirez could help. Griffin did that a bunch last few yrs. Wenninger +10k 3x this yr. Ammons, funny they traded Askew, 10th rd lhrp from clemson, and then this yr get a 10th lhrp from Clemson... though ngl Slaten has a 1WHIP and 3era and that would have been super dope...

Bin isn't piggybacking, they are getting some great starts that go deep!! crazy i know, but ideal. I tend to think of the Vasil/Hamel... they had monsters in Bin like tuart is now... give all these guys a chance to settle. Though clearly, I think Sproat is THE next man up. He looks ready. Think after this ASB he could get a bump to Syr. Love to see Joander bump too, he will need a 40 man spot in offseason, or be a milb FA. Trades: Jett, Parada, Reimer, JRod, Vargas, keep pitching.

@dorfmanjones6 ай бұрын
Trade? Baty obviously. But what would you get for him? There are just too many unknowns with Gilbert and Jett out. Ryan Clifford might be pushing Alonso to DH in a year. What about Morabito, who steals as much as Acuna? Can you imagine a lineup with base stealers like Jett Williams, Nick Morabito and Ronny Mauricio? You just can't know yet. Also the present Mets players, if they keep going like they are, Hader, Lorentz, and Iglesias - will all be re-signed. Even a no-name like Nick LoRusso, is hitting after 3 months of professional baseball. He's got power and he fields excellently at 1st and 3rd (so I've heard.). What will he be like with a season under his belt?
@ernestdove6 ай бұрын
Yeah would hate to trade Baty at this point because it's not his highest value. Still scary to point to Clifford as Alonso replacement just yet. As far as future 26man and salary/tax just already having Alvarez/vientos/Nunez/Butto/Scott is huge going forward IMO
@ernestdove6 ай бұрын
I do feel Mets have to try and move a couple top ish ranked SP arms of their value is high enough right now. Me personally the "untouchable" arms right now are Sproat, Scott, Tong.
@ticalwhut6 ай бұрын
Can't wait to see Acuna in NY. Think his speed plays at the next level. Probably get a look next season or maybe if rosters expand as a pinch runner in Sept. Not sure if roster expansion is still a thing? Jett/Gilbert getting mulligans for a lost year. Sucks so bad. But Bader, Tyrone, and espcially Nimmo have been amazing this season. Kind of hope they keep the pitching prospects (Vasil, Hamel) with an eye for next season. Scott, Senga, Manaea next season are locks.
@ernestdove6 ай бұрын
I'm also wondering aloud if Mets want to move on from players like a Brett Baty or Carlos Cortes who may perhaps need a change of scenery for various reasons and perhaps have value out there? Is there almost a version of selling high on RP Wilkin Ramos while he's hot?

Die hard Mets fan over here. I thoroughly enjoyed your keen and honest input here. I agree on parada and Ramirez by the way. I like Stearn’s philosophy on pushing kids up. If an 18 year old kid could go to war and get shot at,minor league top prospects(especially top prospects),could get challenged as well. I am all for it. Not into being reckless with these kids but at the same time, I don’t like prospect hugging either. Again. Great job here 👍🏾.

great job man as always. right on... I've long been a proponent of moving guys quickly, or being aggressive in that way. Otherwise they time out of the org and all you've done is develop a guy for a different org, or missed out altogether. Guys on the ice cold list: Rosa, almost the same exact BB/K but w less results. Guys on the rise: Wenninger, 3x 10k. Joander, even in tough starts went b2b 10k limited damage - skills needed above. He is an MLB pitcher and will be a mlib FA at end of yr. Between that and as you noted the Syr studs struggling, those guys also thrive on pitcher-friendly comp, demote 2 for Suarez and Stuart. Hawkins up: I like him as a long relief guy. Obvious to say now, but Nunez(!), hope he sticks for good. Glad you mentioned R Hernandez. I think he's the inevitable pairing w FA, about the time Torrens times out coincidentally. Saves face for the Parada debacle. Way down on Jett and Vargas, both wrist injuries. Those are brutal long term. Also JW swing will need an overhaul, his glove is not what was said to be, not close to being a #1 prospect, like Parada was false hope so is he. Keep hope for Vasil, HAmel, and Blade, maybe demote 1 or 2 to light a fire, but their stuff is there they just are missing or flattening out, but should be the kind of thing that once its fixed they will be on a tear again. Cheers!

Great job Ernest! well done. AAA: Impressive pitching all the way through this past week. I would include Jay, 2 great ones, Rios was good over 3 outings, Orze & Young solid as well. That Vasil outing was crucial for him, think maybe he might need to flip to AA to work it out and allow Suarez (or Stu or Blade) a shot in AAA. AA: I'm a huge Suarez guy. He's a milb FA at the end, so I would put the pedal down and see if you can't get him up to NY, he's been locked in. You know, when there's good numbers, and then there's good numbers being locked in looking like you might get a hit but thats it. He's that right now, so almost to me like the numbers which are great don't even matter he's in the zone. That Bin rotation though is sick, the reason they went on that run. Bk: you mentioned Ventura, he's going to slot into the rotation this week - Weds- taking Sproat's spot. The 1 guy I would shout out is New Guy: Stevenson, 2 stellar outings. Looks really good and a quick promo might be in order. StL: With the season getting on some of the piggybacks spreading out. Mercedes and Wenninger scheduled to spread out for the 1st time. Loper you mentioned was nails this week. FCL to me I have only access to boxes, no video, but DeLeon is over it. Bats: Acuna, he had a k violation to end his AB in the 9th.. had a TO in his pocket too. Lapses need safeguarding, and think he needs to stick at 2b, commit to it, even if a need at CF, they would move Nimmo over and Jeff to LF. Ritter Rockets and Gamel! Parada had a good week! LoRusso has shown up. Rosa, damn. FCL Orangel may have been JR actually!! think they confused their Rods. The meme for lineup was JR, the gamecast F'd it w ORod... lol. Cheers, good one! Suarez for a future innerview!

nice job as always. good S/O to Orellana, off a super efficient 51 pitch 5ip 6k 0h outing. Mercedes is a guy I want to hear more on. Piggybacking with Wenninger most of the season, backed up Peterson yesterday and lit it up, getting 10k (i know it was in Daytona and they dont have cameras and advanced info...) Always like to see equal representation and he is now the 7th pitcher /8th time a NYM milb K'd 10 this season, and the other 7 times got a lot of words in comparison. I track the long distance runners (10k) so to me, its a feat, especially having to follow a rehabber/ initially scheduled to start, flexibility of mind to still go out and rage like that is impressive. Cheers, good one

right on, Ernest, good job. They posted the opening series probables as Hall, De La Cruz, and Ziegler (love early probable postings). Hejka! back healthy and in the pen. I could see him rise fast if healthy and all goes well. You mention Hawkins as a FA, I think they look at FAs as house money and let them rise fast, I have Hartwig in mind, but few others. I think they can be conservative in general, imo. Simon was in that futures game, maybe they let him close... Clifford you mention: I think maybe after Choi either opts out inevitably or whatever, then we might see JT move up and Clifford move up. No harm starting him in Brkln. Paz, will be curious to see if he gets some play, recall his hype videos hitting tires, then his suspension, so hope to see what he actually has... looks like he dropped switch hitting last year...

After those relief cuts happen there will be 2 open 40 spots which means next man up could be someone not on 40, Nate or either Rios or Sulser, who I think were good adds in that NRI spot. I know you are big on Griffin, I have a lot of respect for a guy that eats innings across multiple levels in the span of consecutive outings the way he did. hope to see him get to be that piggyback role early, and if he thrives, hopefully looked at as a longman role. Caveat w Jett: the commissioner's office may come down on him for dating a minor, so it may be a bit early to count on him for anything. They can't only punish Wander/ Dominican players for criminal dating scenarios.
