Thank you for the videos! Very glad people out there making these "Mass Moments" videos. St. Patrick's Church is so beautiful. It is very unique, The view behind the altar is breathtaking. I can imagine it in the winter, with snow outside! Also, if you want to learn even more about Holy Mass, I personally recommend you read "The Lamb's Supper: The Mass as Heaven on Earth" by Scott Hahn - I have no affiliation with this book, I just loved reading it and want to spread that word on to others. It's been out for a while now, so it's possible to find it at your local library! 🙏🌍☮

I had not understood that there is a second epiclesis, asking the Holy Spirit to prepare us for receiving the Eucharist. Knew the prayer, did not really focus that the priest is again calling down the Holy Spirit. So much happens at Mass!

Either there is no corporal (the cloth on which the Priest puts the paten with bread and the chalice) or the corporal is not being put on the altar at the correct time. In the Roman Missal, Order of Mass, under the heading "The Liturgy of the Eucharist": "21. When all this has been done, the Offertory Chant begins. Meanwhile, the ministers place the corporal, the purificator, the chalice, the pall, and the Missal on the altar." General Instruction of the Roman Missal, n, 139: "An acolyte or other lay minister places the corporal, the purificator, the chalice, the pall, and the Missal on the altar." This is from the description of Mass Without a Deacon.

The video describes adding water to the paten, to pour into the chalice. Not what the Roman Missal describes in n. 279: "The paten is wiped clean as usual with the purificator." After the Precious Blood is consumed at the altar, the purification should be done "insofar as possible at the credence table." (Roman Missal, n. 279) With a big credence table like the one in the video it would always be possible to do it there.

The Precious Blood should be consumed at the altar, not the sacristy, as described at 0:46. General Instruction of the Roman Missal has in n. 279: "Care is to be taken that whatever may remain of the Blood of Christ after the distribution of Communion is consumed immediately and completely at the altar."

Linda, thank you for your authenticity in the real struggles in the spiritual life of prayer. “Doubt” resonated with me. Thank you Father Eileen, for the reminder In order to have a fruitful spiritual life one needs to be intentional about their prayer time. Between the two “reflections” today it reminds me of St. Ignatius 14 Rules For discernment of spirits, rule number 5, “In time of spiritual desolation never make a change.” Meaning, press on. Now more than ever, when I least feel like it, I need to Do what I was doing when I was feeling connected and close to my Father, God. Remain committed and Steadfast in prayer. Unwavering.
