I have one and it has the most unforgiving corner pockets I have ever played on. But I need help on tightening up the side pockets? I found and tightened the screws for the corners can not find ones for the sides??
@darringraviet114 күн бұрын
sometimes the screws are hidden by the slate...remove the corner bolts on the short rail side of the pocket and slide the long rail away from the slate slightly. tighten the side pockets, then reinstall and tighten the corners.

How did you arrive at 40mm stretch? Great video!
@darringraviet111 ай бұрын
Thank you. I actually watched many pros do the task of stretching and I measured it to come up with a reference point. You cannot suggest how it should "feel" especially when it feels that you think you are about to rip it....lol As I say in the vids it is not an absolute, if you cannot get it to go that far just be consistent as possible using the line as a reference. Realize that if you do not stretch enough the felt will get loose as it gets comfortable with its fibers relaxing. Little secret for you if you have a glue down. You cannot un-staple and re-stretch so if it relaxes too much and gets some wrinkles (usually by the center pockets), get it wet with a sponge or spray bottle of water about a foot around the wrinkle and it will shrink some.
@martinemmerson280911 ай бұрын
Hi there, thanks for the videos much appreciated I have a question, you marked the cloth offset 40mm all around the table on 4 sides in this video but in your previous video on the whiteboard you said to mark the cloth 40mm in from the edge of the slate on 3 sides only and on the remaining long side mark the cloth on the edge of the slate only i.e. at 0mm. I assume 0mm offset on the first long side is correct
@darringraviet111 ай бұрын
yes 0 on one side. This is your first anchor point so you only stretch that side from the center pocket out 40mm each direction from center pocket to short rail later in the process. If it is a glue down table, this is the first side you glue down because unlike staple down felt, glue requires that you do an entire side at a time. so you cannot pull diagonally until you glue one side, then go across to the center pocket and stretch and go out to the short rail and stretch. Doing each of the short ends last.
@martinemmerson280911 ай бұрын
Thanks, this is all very useful as I will be putting the cloth on for the first time very soon and your video gives me a lot of confidence that I can do it on my own. Your method provides a set of rules that ensures a successful evenly stretched cloth and takes a lot of guesswork out of the process. I will be using the stapling method as I have the backing boards on the slates and stapling seems a lot more controllable and forgiving. Thanks again for your help.

It's not felt, but it is, as you in the video, fabric. It's always made from some form of wool, often worsted, and with an acrylic or other tyoe of material added for strength and stretch. Stop calling it "felt".

@@darringraviet1 I recently swapped out tables for this one. It has 1 piece slate instead if the 3 pc. I had to install new cloth but I did not have the option to staple around the edge because there is no slate backer board. The slate droppes into the table and sits flush with the surrounding chip board that cloth gets stapled to. I managed to get it done. Only problem I had was stretch marks here and there because the staples and no slate edge to help spread out the tension. Thank you for responding.
@darringraviet1 Жыл бұрын
@@westonfairris8724 by stretch marks,I assume you mean you can tell where the felt is stapled because the felt pattern (weave) gives the allusion of a ripple in the felt. you can relieve some of this by using more staples to even out the weave . be sure to pull the felt between the staples. some of this will go away as the felt loosens up with play.

Well those measurements work with a Teflon cloth?
@darringraviet1 Жыл бұрын
I am not sure. you can mark the felt and make a test pull. clamp from stretch point 1 to 2 and pull to the line. Is it too hard or too easy, adjust accordingly on all measurements.. It should take some strength to make the pull, but not all your body is capable of, to get their. Otherwise all the later pulls will be too difficult as most of the stretch has been taken out in the first few areas of the table.
