Hilarious. The way the narrator first says the name Beethoven sounds like Martin Gabel doing a bad Bela Lugosi imitation.

Early arranging credit for composer Charles Fox who would later score 100+ films including Barbarella & 9-5, as well as write many hit songs including "Killing Me Softly With His Song". Fox recently was given a star on the HOllywood Walk of Fame.

I suscribed to the "Giants of Jazz" series back in the 70s, and have 11 volumes, after which Time-Life stopped sending them. Why, I'm not sure. Just as well, though, since I didn't really have enough money to spend. Anyway, I kept this intro plexi-disc. It's nice to hear it again.

I used to hate the cold mechanicalness of 40s war-era swing, but always enjoy Dorsey. I suspect it's because he retains a certain sweetness from the mid to late 30s.

30:05 Petite Waltz "The Petite Waltz" is a popular piece of light classical music that became famous in the mid-20th century. The melody was originally composed by Joe Heyne in 1948, with lyrics added later by others, including Eddy Howard who popularized it in English with his version titled "The Petite Waltz." The song has a charming, gentle melody characteristic of a traditional waltz, encapsulating the elegance and romanticism associated with waltz music. Its rhythm is in 3/4 time, which is typical for waltzes, giving it a distinctive, swaying motion that is both graceful and comforting. "The Petite Waltz" captured the hearts of many listeners upon its release and was covered by numerous artists, leading to various vocal and instrumental renditions. Its popularity extended beyond just a listening experience; it also found a place in dance halls and became a favorite piece for ballroom dancing, especially among those who enjoyed the waltz. The appeal of "The Petite Waltz" lies not just in its melodious tune but also in its ability to evoke nostalgia and transport listeners to a bygone era of elegance and simplicity. Despite not being as universally recognized as some other classic waltzes by composers like Strauss or Chopin, "The Petite Waltz" remains a beloved piece in the realm of light classical and popular music.

It was the best musical night of my life! -small venue with great acoustics -basically this band plus or minus a couple guys -no recording does justice to the power and passion of this group Talked with Stan between sets -nice guy
