Powder coat is fine. The manufacturer didn’t clean the metal and prep surfaces correctly.

It's under cured and un-primed. Paint is doing exactly that on my 08 Equinox
@The_Superyacht_Paint_Expert3 күн бұрын
That can happen with paint or powder. It’s all about the surface prep my friend. However, it appears that bed is suffering from Galvanic corrosion… a bunch of aluminum bolted directly to bare steel…. doesn’t end well for the steel. The prep can be perfect, if galvanic corrosion is occurring, the only way to stop it, is to ensure that dissimilar metals are not touching, not even in the threads.
@Randys_Relics3 күн бұрын
Where do you see aluminum? There is no aluminum on this thing. Just some SS latches?

@ I can’t see the whole thing. Dissimilar metals wreak havoc.

Powder coat does it when you buy it from a moron who doesn't know how to do it. The problem wasn't the chemical, it was the fool doing it and the idiot who trusted the fool.

@NaluAhmong4 күн бұрын
That is not powder coating. All the panels would be warped from the heat from powder coating. You cannot powder coat thin metal like that. Powder coating is baked in the oven.

Very impressive tractor. This is the first tractor I ever saw of this type that was running. I remember seeing one that was sitting on the side of the highway not running. I enjoy listening to gasoline tractors running and even more interesting when pulling. On the first video with the froze up engine I didn't see much hope but now with it running its a very impressive tractor.

For All you non experts in the comments.. Paint Will not do that... Why, because all steel Substrates get what's called DTM (also called the E coat)... Direct to metal.. Which bonds with the metal. Even when the paint fails.. the DTM will still be there.. and unless you did something stupid.. like paint bare metal without it or pound on 7 layers of paint in one coat.. Paint WON'T do that... Also Single stage paints can have DTM additives in it and allow you to "No-Prep" bare metal and the paint will still stick to the metal and STAY. It's what's used on most Train cars, Dump trucks, All CAT made vehicles.. Safes, Every ATM in the US... Anything Industrial. Hell.. It's even on Airplanes.. You can sand blast something and go right to powder coating.. Can't use a DTM, or etching primers.. as the part/etc needs to grounded during the coating process, because you are conducting electricity through that part... baked to a cure, recoat, baked again and so on depending on desired results... DTM or etch primers would simply cook (400-450*) off and ruin what's sprayed overtop of them. Automotive paint is cured at 165* for 30-45min or air dried for 24hrs.

Yeah needs to be sandblasted first. The coatings coming from a big factory are trash. He's right that if you buy a mass produced bed paint may be better.

I know the video is a year old, but what is the purpose of the chain that you repaired that is high up on the arms? Seems to loose to help with sway, but all the Allis plows I see have this chain and it always seems loose. Great video. Thanks

It is for sway, more so when the plow is raised to keep the plow from hitting the tires.
