Really nice, I am looking into the oxi one to do the same type of thing with my Matriarch and hopefully some poly sequencing of my other synths. Thanks for sharing ✌️
@seanelliotmusicАй бұрын
Thank you! Much appreciated. If you’re looking to do true 4 voice polyphony with the Matriarch it does get very ‘patchy’ very quickly. As I think I mentioned in the description, you will need an additional 2 envelopes and VCAs plus possibly another 2 filters with envelopes if you want to keep the oscillators separate to one another. It’s a fun exploration to play around with but not hugely practical to use as a true 4 voice polyphonic Matriarch, if that’s what you’re after. Good luck on your adventure, traveller!

Is Oxi sequencing everything?
@seanelliotmusicАй бұрын
Not on this occasion no. It’s acting as main clock though keeping everything synced. I can’t remember the specifics as I recorded it a while ago but I think the Oxi was sequencing one of the parts. Possibly sending notes to the Oneiroi. The MicroFreaks were using their own sequencer I think.

Fair comment. Maybe in the future I might do voiceovers for the tutorial type vids but I really don’t have a great voiceover-voice so I’d probably use one of the AI ones. In the meanwhile, as a fun little activity, why not record yourself reading the text (into phone voice memo, for example) and then play it back as you watch the video!

I have the Ovum as well, phenomenally underrated device. Such beautiful tones come out of it, and it goes DEEP. I see that you have orange knobs on yours, a nice adjustment to get away from those tiny little black ones. Where did you find those? Andy specific size I should look for to ensure a good fit?
@seanelliotmusic2 ай бұрын
I do love the Ovum. Yes the orange knobs I added do make it a bit easier but it is still a bit fiddly to dial in the pitch you want. I got the knobs from here: thepihut.com/products/orange-micro-potentiometer-knob-4-pack They fit snugly over the top of the originals and have a little screw to secure them.

@seanelliotmusic2 ай бұрын
Yes. All played live direct to stereo, no multitrack. All clocks are fed via Pam’s New Workout. It’s partially improvised in that I have a rough idea of what various settings will sound like from a basic outline of a plan, but I mostly just press record and then noodle around!

Sounds sweet and ethereal. Nice work on the panning too.
@seanelliotmusic3 ай бұрын
Thank you! The panning is almost entirely natural in that the two MicroFreaks go into the left + right input on the Zoom MS-CDR70 which creates the stereo-fied version via the effects. This means that one MicroFreak is mostly on the left and the other one mostly on the right, but the effects bring each signal across to the other side. The MiniFreak and Oneiroi just have their own stereo signal recorded. I record direct to stereo. Thanks for commenting. Much appreciated!

Hi there! As you can probably tell from my videos I love the Ovum! It’s been in pretty much every video since I got it. I have it permanently plumbed into the Wingie resonator - that is a great combo I highly recommend. The knobs do fit over the top of the originals and they have a little screw to secure them. I got them from thepihut.com. There’s loads of different colours. Not sure if it allows links in comments but if it does, this link will take you to the orange ones I bought: thepihut.com/products/orange-micro-potentiometer-knob-4-pack Thanks for commenting. Do you have any other processing on this signal or sound? EQ, reverb, etc...?
@seanelliotmusic3 ай бұрын
Hi! It was a while ago but as far as I can remember I had the Matriarch going into it via a stereo send from the mixer which is how I normally have my pedals set up. No other effects applied. Dry Matriarch into PolyMoon. No EQ - you’re listening to a direct to stereo recording which is how I normally record stuff. Hope that helps. Thanks for commenting!

If you’re referring to the white wooden box with 5 faders, that’s not a mixer. It’s the Ovum drone synth by CrowsElectroMusic.
