Both of Ann Widdecombes shows were hilarious tbh. She was a great host. Merton is a thin-skinned person. He shows his dislike whenever someone gets one over on him. And he hasn’t been funny for at least 10yrs now.

He didn't accept the Brexit result immediately, he shared a petition for a second referendum. He only 'accepted' the result when Talk Radio and GBeebies paid him enough. He's gone right-wing for the money, like a less rapey version of Russell Brand

What a great interesting guy Brian is, part of my early year's. His partnership with the late, great Yootha Joyce, was tele magic. Nothing will replace actor's of their era, love to lovely Linda too xx

Great interview. Great piece of writing advice at the end, after your last question (31:48) "..keep interested in the world...to be a good writer you need to be aware a little bit of what's going on and just embrace the world and all it's perfections... " Simon Nye. Thanks for posting.

She did tell him off. She said "You're being paid on this program so please make a bit of an effort!" It was hilarious but I guess Merton took it personally. 🤷♂️ And yeah Jimmy Carr's sense of humour felt oddly out of place for the show.
