Great explanation. I've been wanting to learn the terminology better and this was the perfect example. I'm looking to find grave sites at our family graveyard in Livingston county Kentucky. We know there are many graves there but not all are marked. Many have been weathered away or thrown over by landscapers who thought they were just rocks.

This video is a visual companion to Chuck Bailey's blog post about the trip! Check out this fine piece of literature here: wmblogs.wm.edu/cmbail/going-with-the-flow-geologys-fall-departmental-field-trip-2022/

That was awesome! Love the music, and the pacing at the end was perfect. Did I hear Chuck asking at one point if someone had hurt themselves?
@wmgeomovies2 жыл бұрын
Good ear! He did, but not to worry, everyone was okay :) We walked away from this trip with no injuries, which can be attributed to both diligence and luck.

One good think is the acknowledgement that the erosion was the result of exceptional rainfall from a hurricane (8-15") in the area of this private border wall. The bank had been seeded and was growing, but it was not finished and so was subject to erosion. The builder has since then restore the dirt banks and reseeded them again. These picts do not show that or the current state of growth. It would be useful to see that especially relative to the rest of the areas river banks and what effect the rain had on that at the same time.

First, WHY would someone want to know the angle of a rock? Secondly, Would you say that this Compass is good for general sea and land navigation?
@738polarbear5 жыл бұрын
It is EXCELLENT for navigation . It is also a geological compass and that is WHY people want to know rock angles . Mining and geology . can gather a lot of information from striation strike and dip.

Great Video... Its just how I learned it in class but 100x quicker.. took structure 3 years ago.. currently taking sedstrat and totally forgot how to measure S/D.. Thank you for this perfect tutorial. My memory is refreshed!
@thegaper10905 жыл бұрын
B J Of course it’s going to take you longer in class to learn it. It’s all about how much money the school can rape idiots out of. I went to a technical college and earn more than most idiots that majored in any BOS degree. Keep wasting your time in college. You’ll have a ton of debt to repay on a McDonald’s pay scale. Too many people in college thinking they will get rich. Welders make way more than college grads these days. And they don’t owe any college loans.
