Makes me was to march into a country in the Middle East and occupy it, but with a swagger.

Great players… but …this is a great example of a “square as hell” sound…. Army marching band and classical players… or worse yet…GREAT Classically Trained and programmed GREAT PLAYERS… who can only bend a note if the bend it written in to the page…. Or…. All great soulful players… who all are conforming to outrageous mediocrity forced in to otherwise great people … I said it… tough … I work with guys EVERY day… who acknowledge the above… “ don’t think…. Just shut up and stay in your lane”. Yes my comments are very buzz kill… These …. ARE….GREAT players… but NO music lover would listen to this for the sound… because the GROOVE SUCKS…this sound is Marching Band 101…. we listen to it because it’s early GADD..and the other great musicians…

If someone asked you what it means when they say a drummer is playing very deep in the pocket, you should show them this video.

What a great era in jazz and rock music. The band was hot, all the way around. Steve Gadd laying it on nice and heavy. That would've been an amazing concert.

Did he join the army to have a gig or was he drafted? That must have been a bit scary because they probably could have grabbed any of those guys and stuck a rifle in their hands and sent them to vietnam.

I grew up listening to the "Meters" here in the NOLA area, and "Cissy Strut" is one of their most popular songs, but this was a real joy to hear with Steve Gadd on drums. I am a lifelong drummer so Gadd and Zigaboo are 2 of my favorite drummers of all time.
