For 40 years, every time I hear the name Rita, every single time, my mind starts going (2:03) "ragged by Skeeter; rocked by Matt and dogged by Peter". It was hard wired into my brain in 1985, irreparably. Especially because it's kind of an obscure song. I finally came back to hear the whole thing. And before you correct me to say the lyrics aren't Rita but rather Nita, just know I'm aware; I just haven't met any Nitas in 40 years.

This was a break dance hit in Chicago. My best friend and I were DJing the local parties and buying Album every week. We discovered this one. We never heard it being played on the radio but it became a hit when we played it.

Lucky enough to have seen RUN DMC and Jam-Master Jay when they were on tour with the Beastie Boys. Around 1987 or 88 as I recall. Shoreline amphitheater, California. Nice to have been a part of hip-hop history.

I haven't heard this song in over 40years. I remember battling this dude on the corner in front of a liquor store in late September 1983-being a freshman. We were battling off this song. Hope he's stll alive. What Joe.
