It irritates me that they sell the Squier ones at all, given the problem you mentioned. It would suggest that they dont really care about the guitars as instruments in the Squier line, which is priced very high these days compared to competitors.

Would you recommend this Spector model or a Schecter Charles Berthoud model?

Dude for like 30 years I never really cared to figure out what that little thumb bar was for. Or tug bar as you called it. I thought it was just for a left-handed bassist if they flipped it upside down. Thanks for that little tidbit😂

Hello, im considering buying one of this basses brand new for 900usd. How do you feel it compared to an ibanez sr500? Its worth ?
@KPJohnson
@KPJohnson Ай бұрын
Hello! Depends on a few things. The Ibanez would be a little more flexible tone wise as it has a different pre amp in it. The Spector is definitely worth it, but hard to say without k nowing what you want in the bass to make a recommendation. If you could play both first that would be helpful.

Thanks for you reply. I would like a bass comfortable, and versatile ( keeping the classical sound of spector). Do you think it will fit the jazz or blues tone ? @@KPJohnson

While both sounded pretty good, I think the Mesa hit harder with a bit more solid bottom. I'm wondering if the high pass filter on the mesa has something to do with that?

My Fender PBass stays in tune My Squire seems to be out of tune often. I also have funky dead spot on the B of the G String with my Squire. Plus when I got the Squire it needed fret work. It had sharp edges and they looked un finished. The pots on my Squire seem loose. The Fender seem to have better pots. That being said for the price a Squire is an awesome first bass, but you will probably move on quickly to a better bass

Agree man. I just picked up a 2019 Player second hand for only £100 more then the Squier. It's like the previous owner never played it. The Squiers I played were very good for the money but just felt cheaper overall than the MIM.

I think the Jackson had a more modern contemporary sound and was slightly brighter. I think if it was mixed well, you wouldn’t hear the different. Ultimately, a Rick is a Rick, but for a third of the price, the Jacksonbacker takes the win here

I agree the build quality of the Fender is a little superior, but sound-wise, they are very similar - it's hard to tell the difference to be honest.

For me the key parts you mentioned are, gigging with an acoustic/semi acoustic trio and smaller bar gigs/smaller rooms. That's not my gig and not what I need, as much as I love TEs and the look of it. Good review though, and sounds great. So, gigging as long as it's small gigs and you don't need much grunt... 👌

@@KPJohnson Thanks. I'm mostly playing classic rock, Americana and singer/songwriter stuff with my bass guitar and big band jazz with my electric upright, so I'm into a fatter rather than a punchier sound.
