Totally offsides, but in turn, I believe the goal that was called back should have been a good goal. I feel it was in before the whistle, my opinion. The game would have been over in regulation

You could see with a glass marble in your backside that was at least a meter offside, Jessie took her goal well though, crazy angle to score from. These things happen in all sports [ i'm afraid ] but that does not excuse a blatant and highly visible error. A visit to specsavers is in order I think.

Even if Spooner does return where in the roster will she go. I’m sick of them leeching their MVP like she’s their salvation she’s more or less their mascot at this point. Them getting the reverse sweep from Minnesota should have been their wakeup call to shore their other lines but since then the team hasn’t had a plan with the players they still have hell they drafted Gosling their first pick to fill the role Spooner did as a net front and she hasn’t delivered all season. As for the ‘off shot’ with the way Toronto has been playing all season trying to call technical seems like a desperation to get a win. Even Ottawa has shown some success post trade nothing really has changed since Harmon and Scamurra joined.

@@sturmgesutz i mean I’d have preferred they traded Maltais instead of Bach. She hasn’t done much this season except score when the net’s empty and the fact she got a lot of fouls last season shows she’s more trouble than she’s worth. As for Spooner let’s be real how many more games can she play this is her last contracted season and she hasn’t even started it yet best she retires join legends like Wickenheiser and Hefford while she still has these accolades. The fact they don’t refortify their forward lines without her just shows as a team they are lacking and are too dependent on her even if she does get back which is unlikely as the season is almost halfway done where would she fit in the roster? It's been a season of "almosts" for Toronto, they just don't seem to find the opportune goals to win. That could change pretty fast if they find another level of chemistry, maybe. For Ottawa, when you look at things on paper they were slated to struggle in my perception, my goofy playoff predictions notwithstanding but their deals look good right now. Lexie Adzija had the makings of a power foward last year and seemed suited to the league's style of play. She has 0 pts and is -6 in 9 games with the Fleet and seems overwhelmed and not well casted as a 3rd/4th line center. Darkangelo has 3 goals and is providing play that fits that profile right now. Same with Bach. She fits McLeod's emphasis on speed and they had correctly identified chemistry with Serdachny. Ottawa has their own read on thing and it feels pretty spot in some respects. As an outside observer they are fascinating to watch. As a MTL NHL fan I know things can change fast when a top scorer comes back and the team's confidence is boosted by that, so by no means would I discount Toronto right now. They are dangerous and could wake anytime. Anyhow, thanks for the podcast Ceebee, hope you are well and sorry for my previous Matthew Barnaby agitating posts. It's a "gift" I have to manage. G

She may have lost a step but is still very capable of turning in a good shift. Also think Vicky Bach was wasted at Toronto, she has so much potential and hopefully Carla can bring that out. Oh and do you see how Joce has mellowed over the years, at one time she would have fought at the drop of a hat😂 Takes far less penalties these days.

I believe Mike Hirshfeld when he says the team will benefit from Larocque's experience and mentoring for younger Ashton Bell and Stephanie Markowski. Yes Larocque is the oldest player in the league, but her contract expires in 2026 and she will still be able to contribute until then, although she might fall to a second or third pairing while Bell and Markowski move up. And who knows what else happens, there are two entry drafts and possibly an expansion draft to take place during that time span. For Bach, her contract expires this Summer, so how she does for the rest of the season will determine her place for next year vs the other forwards and draft picks. The only Ottawa forwards signed for 2025-2026 are Mrazova, Jenner, Clark, Serdachny and Hughes

I was high on Ottawa's defense, but the mix hasn't been as I thought. On paper Larocque brings grit and a bit of depth. Harmon is a puck mover, but seems to have lost her spot to Tejralova, Salvonainen and maybe even Roese. Both teams have had underwhelming starts, so the change might benefit everybody. I would expect Harmon to play on the power play. Scamurra could be a definite upgrade at foward if she finds some chemistry. Interesting trade and breakdown! :P

On paper Toronto looks like the team to beat in this league but for some reason they sit at the bottom of the standings. Without Spooner they look like a good team but no longer a great team. They traded for youth. Larocque is 36 and at the end of her career. She has probably talked about retirement and that may have pushed this trade so Toronto loses nothing next season if she did retire. It's a business and we will all see our favorites move on from the teams they play for now to greener pastures or better opportunities elsewhere. This entire trade was about age. Minnesota is in the same position with Stecklein who will turn 32 this year. Both are still great players but age will catch up with you and teams are wary of losing a player and getting nothing in return. One more thing...I'm not even sure Spooner can make a difference with this team when she gets activated. This Toronto team does not have the heart or believe in themselves as they did when the rattled off that streak of wins last year...This is a very different team Spooner will come back to.
