Hmm...honest question: What about the verse in 2 Cor 12:2 where St. Paul says, "I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know-God knows." And also how the devil and his angels will get thrown into the lake of fire. Are those not indicative of an actual place or dimension? (I'm new to Orthodoxy.)

How do you all feel about Orthodox christianity now with the schism and lack of unity among the churches? The fact that Russian church blesses bloodshed and murder and is bullying other churches such as the Alexandrian church and the mother church Constantinople? One has to wonder if the catholic church was right to have one undisputed head.

Ever Protestant Christian out there, especially nondenominational ones like Evangelicals, Baptists, Anabaptists, and Pentecostals, should truly understand that icons are not idols, but gateways to heaven and venerating icons does NOT lead to idol worship. I too am in the process of my Catechumen phase in the Orthodox Church. After coming home here, and through all my studies with the Orthodox Church, Jesus Christ teachings and understanding them better, the Desert Fathers, and their wisdom, there is no turning back to any other church again. There is nowhere else I would rather be.This is the real church God meant for us to BE. Orthodoxy is a way of life and that way of life is following Jesus and doing what he instructs us to do, taking his teachings seriously in our lives in a way that is gentle but so real that the Holy Spirit shows you the truth that you cannot denye. We all live with some great sorrows in our lives, but It is good to know, that we are all in this together , and we don't have to journey alone. We can have Jesus in the boat with us always, as long as we invite him in and trust and believe him and the scriptures, and along side the church.

Whwre are you getting this from? Since non of this comes from the bible. The bible is quite clear that God punished Adam for listening to eve instead of following his command. And God held eve responsibile for listening to the serpent. Never mentioning that Adam should have taken full responsibility himself.

I'm a Filipino catechumen, yes, same thing here in the Philippines. It saddens me sometimes that heretics/heterodox spreads easily here like INC and MCGI, who were newly estaboished protestant churches yet gained so much followers in millions, while Orthodoxy only makes less than 1% of the population. We dont even have an Orthodox Church in my home province 😢😢😢😢

This is why I'm skeptical of Evangelicalism.. Too much of the focus is on the " Christian" and not Christ We tend to hear people boasting about Their moment, rather than Jesus. I'm not saying all of them are self righteous and egocentric.. Too much of the focus seems to be on Them and not so much on Christ.

I don’t know if it really matters what religion people are in. As long as we know Jesus and accept him as our lord and savior. Something similar happened to me and I wasn’t claiming any religion I just dedicated time to my savior. When my mom was dying. I was praying to God as well to let me know she was going to be in heaven, that everything was going to be fine and he answered. A couple of weeks before she passed me and my brother saw an angel in the sky and then I knew it was ok to let her go. It’s amazing how God answers when you open your heart and cry to him in desperation. All glory to the most high Jesus Christ. ❤️
