Maybe you could look into the connection between the Vagus nerve and panic attacks / panic disorder in a future video? I'm sure it plays a vital part in these debilitating conditions and you probably already know how & why.

I listened to your book Nervous System Reset on a recent Qantas flight. I loved how you broke down this life changing topic so that I could understand it and begin to apply the exercises. Bought the book, I feel like this will be my go-to manual for improving the most important aspects of my life. Thank you Jessica!

This may be a faulty interpretation. The homeostatic process will attempt to maintain the level of stress it has become accustomed to.

What if the trauma is not just in the past, but still in the present. Medical induced trauma is real, but I wish practitioners would also consider the impact of chronic illness induced trauma. How does a person deal with an ongoing threat that is in their own body?
@jessicamaguire74997 ай бұрын
Chronic illness is most definitely not addressed enough in the current medical field. We discuss the effects of chronic illness and how to understand, navigate and support our nervous system in relation to these symptoms within our Vagus Nerve Program.

Which came first? It makes sense how a dysfunctional nervous system can cause GI tract dysfunction, but since the vagus nerve communicates back and forth with the brain, I think GI tract dysfunction can cause nervous system dysfunction. I think the vagus nerve is like a guitar string. When you have chronic GI dysfunction, it’s like plucking the string in your gut, and the vibration is felt all the way up to the brain, through every organ that the vagus nerve innervates.
@jessicamaguire74997 ай бұрын
As there is a two-way communication loop, both can affect one another most definitely.

Greetings from Hunedoara, Romania. Congratulations! I'm Erwin, and when the weather changes, that's when my end comes..., in other words, I feel the sudden change in temperature, from cold to warm and vice versa, like fog, I can anticipate the weather forecast through intercostal neuralgic pains. I want to write to you that I had a respiratory virus when I was 20 years old, but as a small child I had "nerves in my stomach", as I explain in a simplified way that anyone can understand. I would like to ask you what you think happens when the weather changes, because only when the weather changes do I have these manifestations, mood changes, anxiety, palpitations, even from the wind blowing irregularly. Do you think it's about the autonomic nervous system, sympathetic/parasympathetic, only, or also the vagus nerve, and what exercises would you recommend?! Thank you very much. With respect and honest friendship, Erwin. 🤗

Been anxious and depressed for more than 1.5 years.. lost some weight.. loose stool. But then a little more than 3 weeks ago bloating started.. more abdominal cramps and other symptoms.. as i have a past where i have been exposed to radioation on my gut i am scared that it is a form of cancer.. i have not detected invisible blood in stool so i rule out colon cancer.. but the large feementation in the gut could be a sign of deadly pancreatic cancer. But i have had major anxiety the last 2 weeks as to needing a pill to lower anxiety before sleep. Can't function around my kids.due to dark thoughs on my healrh
@OohLa1188 ай бұрын
Me I had and now have again the same symptoms. Please get a colonoscopy (not sure it’s the right word in English). When they took pictures of my gut, they found out, no IBS, no cancer, no food sensitivities, but indeed a bacterial overgrowth in my gut. I guess it comes from years of anxiety and depression. When I took a long break of certain food and prioritized my mental health, it finally got 100% better. Now all the symptoms actually came back and I now know it’s my body signaling me to ground myself and take a step back. But please get an appointment, to rule out anything worse, so you can finally concentrate on your well-being.

Jessica, your content is excellent and the work you are doing is really important, but why do you never post your references? As a clinician, I need to be able to access the research directly, otherwise I can't justify a change in practice. I've yet to see a reference in any of your work and I've been following you for ages. Not a criticism just a sincere request! All the best.
