Just for comparison to determine whether it would be easier for me to lower the handlebars and seat… I’m 5.2 ft. How tall are you?

I have the Miami. After having it, I wished I'd bought the Tokyo because of the smaller tires for transporting it in the trunk.

Born and raised in Brooklyn NY, one of my Pet Peeves is seeing Bikes on the train. MTA had teased an idea years ago of making a train car on each train just for bikers with no seats standing room only so that people could stop crowding the trains with bikes. The folding bikes are making things a little better, but at the same time Biking and Scooter riding has now increased a lot in popularity so it has increased the amount of people on the train with these transportation methods. I ride the train AND I also became a biker/E scooter rider About 2 years ago. In that time frame I have not once entered the train station with any of my big transports. I have an Ebike from Ancheer, 2 EScooter sit down Razor Echo Smart, 1 Stand up small E scooter. The Metro's are 70lbs, the Ancheer Ebike is foldable but about 40lbs, the foldable stand up is 15 lbs and very light, it's the only one I went on the train with and carried folding in hand. I always think to myself, this Bikers wheels are not flat, everything seems fine with the bike, why are they on the train, just ride where you need to go, that's why you have the bike right? your non-foldable bike is taking up 2 and a half spaces of room. I use to ride 6.6 miles 5 days a week. Even when i got a flat, I did not go to the train. I just walked from wherever I was, even upgraded the tires on my foldable scooter to no flat tires. They should ban bikes from trains unless they are foldable.

Do you have your saddle set to touch the floor with the balls of your feet? Cause mine isn’t and I slide of my saddle to stop, but my bike wants to slant to one direction. I also have a Citizen bike.

I have owned my first generation Tokyo for nearly 10 years and this bike is still fun. I've taken it to the mountains, Jersey Shore, a cruise to Bermuda and rode it to work when they closed Philly roads for the Pope. My Tokyo presents a neater fold than my Downtube full suspension bike which is a little bigger.

Hi thanks for the reviews on the Tokyo bike .. just wondering if you think the newer Roman Citizen bike would be a better pick. I don’t think it looks as nice as the Tokyo. But it’s lighter. What do you think 👍
@ShayBear-bk5kk5 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for the comment! I just looked at the Roman Citizen bike...looks real nice! I think it depends on what type of bike you want. The Tokyo is a 6 speed and the Roman is only a 1 speed. The Roman is only 20lbs though, 10 lbs lighter than the Tokyo. If it's just for recreational use or last mile solution for your commute I'd definitely consider it. We thought about using the Tokyo with NYC public transportation but it can just start to feel heavy having to run up subway stairs. Had the Roman been available at the time we got the Tokyo, I think I would have chosen the Roman instead. Thanks for the heads up about the newer bike!

Thank you for your question! We have 2 of these bikes, currently being stored outside under a bike tarp waiting for warmer weather! They're great for buses specifically because they fold. It depends where you live though. Here in NYC buses can get pretty packed but it's still better than a non folding bike. They can feel quite heavy if you have to lift and carry them up stairs for long periods of time to get to a bus or train platform. But for simple on and off bus it's great, especially for the price. You can get smaller and lighter folding bike if you have a larger budget of course. For my height and weight, the quality and price, I would buy again. If you are taller than about 5' 10" it may feel small, almost like a clown bike the way it maneuvers. Thank you again for stopping by! Hope that answers your question

Yeah - everything is "NICE" - but, why is it called FLIPSIDE ...?
@ShayBear-bk5kk5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for stopping by! According to their website: FLIPSIDE SECURITY "Body-side access means your gear is safely out of reach while you are wearing your pack" and FLIPSIDE ACCESS: "quickly and safely access you're gear when you can't put your gear down". Basically the main compartment opening is on the side against your body. Seems to be the model name they coined to name their line of backpacks in that style. Hope that answers your question

missbeehaven just bought a bike. Definitely recommend to use for chores however try to be as comfortable as possible riding a bike first practice and memorize how to unfold and refold it again ! I love my Tokyo it’s the perfect size for me. I’m shorter than you and not very strong 💪 in the arms unfortunately so I do find the bike heavy LOL need to hit the gym. Careful of the gears and wear a helmet

missbeehaven Omg I’m just seeing this. So sorry. Yes, I still have it. I had it sitting around collecting dust. But now I’ve been riding it almost everyday since mid-June. I ride between 7 and 10 miles each time. I ride through the Old Croton Aqueduct trail and on the rode as well. Bumpy sidewalks too. I live in Yonkers (just north of the city), so we can legally ride on sidewalks. I’m 5’4” and 135lbs. I haven’t had issues with my height or weight (and I believe the max weight is a little over 200lbs). I got the Tokyo because I wanted it to take up the least amount of space but the Miami may be a better choice if you don’t have an issue with a little extra space being used. It may also be better for the city. I think it costs a little more though.
@ShanteRoxxane4 жыл бұрын
missbeehaven Oh yes, and as the other user mentioned, be careful with shifting gears. You should only shift one gear at a time. I’ve also been learning about bike maintenance and watching KZbin for that. I use chain lube maybe once every 2 weeks and I wipe my chain with a cloth about once per week. It gets pretty dirty with the trail riding. So with riding in dirt you’d have to wipe it more often. I use a wax lube called Finish Line Dry and a overall bike cleaner called Simple Green. The chain is still the hardest to keep clean so you may do well with something like the Park Tool chain scrubber. I’ve never used it but I’ve seen it used with good results and I’m thinking of getting one to make cleaning easier and faster. I learned it’s important to make sure the chain doesn’t get too dirty because it wears it down faster and can wear down the bike cassette faster too. It also makes gear shifting less smooth when there’s lots of dirt. So I try to clean those things regularly.
