Beautiful soap. I’ve been wanting to do the heat transfer method but didn’t want to sacrifice using silk. It was great to see and you showing that, I can indeed keep the silk and still try out this method. I was worried that the lye solution wouldn’t be warm enough to melt my hard oils and butters. I just purchased the caterpillar and am really excited to use it. Also using soap dough as well. Thank you for your videos and content!!!

@@AMusingFarms Oh yes! You can still add silk or other additives (like powdered sugar) as long as you work quickly. You can see I do use a spatula to squish and stir it around instead of just waiting for it to dissolve - the squishing against the sides of the container really are what seems to do the trick. Heat transfer is my favorite - it’s the only way I work most of the time!

Hey! I didn’t call it out specifically in this video, but if I’m using a fragrance I know is well behaved, it’s usually pre-added to my liquid oils that I add after melting the hard ones :) ❤

Is there a way to do this without tape since it's not recyclable? I've been looking for a way to wrap my soap without it and haven't found a solution yet. I plan on switching to reusable bags but that isn't currently in the budget. Thanks :)

can you please talk about how you measure for these layers?
@CapricaSoapery
@CapricaSoapery Жыл бұрын
Oh gosh, for this one I just sort of eyeballed it. I think I poured off about 25% of my lye solution and 25% of my oil solution for the snow at the bottom, and the rest was just eyeballing it to do the ombré. If you’re interested in how to calculate amounts for layers I have another video which is for the Sculpted Layers technique and that has a tutorial along with a downloadable math tool I made to help you calculate what you need per layer if you have your design drawn out.

Thanks so much for sharing. I'm just starting out and there are so so so many ways to wrap paper. Yours has been the simplest and most environmentally friendly way so far. Just wondering what you do for labelling. In Australia we have to list the ingredients and where the soap was manufactured.
