The balloons vary in distance up based upon catching the wind going where they want to travel. I am on the ground chasing them but they are floating along at up to 500 meters but usually around 200 meters. If I get a chance to pull the drone logs I can let you know a more exact height based upon the time base on the video.

The height of the drone varied - here are some heights: (all heights in meters) 50m, 144.5 m, 133m. Hope this helps. If you give me a time in the video I might be able to find out the height for that time marker. For example at 5:09 the height was 144M or 472 feet.

It has a range of, technically, of course. Here is what DJI says: DJI Mini 3 Pro boasts a flagship-level video transmission system in DJI O3. It ensures a 1080p/30fps live feed at distances of up to 12 km. But that is ideal with clear site lines, no building, nothing in the way. I do not like to go over 500 metres away. There is also a requirement to stay in line of sight by Transport Canada. So from where I was to the Moyie I just start to lose sight of it as it gets very very tiny. But, like anything, practice allows you to follow it. Also orange tape attached to the drone helps. The drone is normally grey in colour. This results in it blending into the sky. I just did another hot air balloon one this AM but have not downloaded it yet. I hope to start later today working on it.

Hello shasta59, Nice video! Just a heads up, drones are not allowed in Heritage Park and it is quite an inconvenience to us as we have to shut some things down whenever a drone is sighted in the park. Salutations.

Thanks for the comment - appreciate the kind words. I wonder if you could forward to me the NOTAM listing for Heritage Park in the Transport Canada database? I was unable to find such a listing so I assumed it was safe to fly it over Heritage Park in the airspace. It is a micro drone so the requirements are much less for this class. I also consulted the NAV Drone app as put out by NAV Canada and Transport Canada and all it gave me was a caution for my class of drone in that area. Any additional information you have regarding this would be appreciated. Here is the only clause I could find at Transport Canada regarding micro drone operation: Reckless or Negligent Operation 900.06 No person shall operate a remotely piloted aircraft system in such a reckless or negligent manner as to endanger or be likely to endanger aviation safety or the safety of any person. All other regulations talk about drones weighing greater than 250 grams.

Hey, thanks for the response! I'm referring to Heritage Park's drone policy, which is stated on all their park maps: "Pets, balls, balloons, drones and weapons are not permitted in the Park." There are also natural areas all around the park, a playground, and frequent advertised events, which I believe there are some restrictions around for drone usage. If none of this applies to what you're doing feel free to disregard this message. Hope you have a nice day!

@@jennellem.1406 Thanks for the reply. Yes I saw that on their material. And yes drones are not allowed in the park if you are IN the park. The park is considered private property and as such, without permission, a drone cannot take off and land on private property. However the air space is regulated by Transport Canada not Heritage Park. Unless the park has requested a NOTAM (such as is issued for the Stampede each year) (NOTAM - notice to airmen) around and above the park the airspace can be used. Also the natural areas I do not fly into and stay more than high enough (over 90 metres) to avoid issues. Plus there is a NOTAM for the heliport at the hospital but the class of drone I am flying is only advised to fly with caution. Any drone larger (next class up - 250g and heavier) cannot fly in the area at all. NAV Canada has an app out which allows you to check to see where you can fly in your area based upon class of drone. It is very up to date and even reflects current and new NOTAMS issued. A very good resource to know where you can fly. If the city was to start enforcing tighter rules then they have other bylaws and laws they need to enforce as well such as noisy cars, heavily tinted windows on cars, construction sites working before 7 AM, the requirement to put garbage/recycling bins back on your property after pickup etc. I take great effort to ensure I am very careful, not bothering anyone or wildlife etc. I flew out of Glenmore Park (legal area) and they need to enforce parking rules. At one parking lot, it was so full, people were parking on the grass, in handicapped spots without a placard, on the roadway blocking traffic. I do greatly appreciate the tone of your response. So many comments on other videos and other sites are basically someone being abusive and as such not worth my time to reply or comment. If you wish I can send you the links to Transport Canada and the drone regulations. For the micro class of drone there is only one line 900.06 which applies to micro drones. They also state micro drones can fly closer to people than other drones etc. But the bottom line is do not be “an idiot”.

Because people park their cars on the street and not in their driveways so the trucks don't have the room to negotiate those turns wide enough.
@1959Aeroflyte
@1959Aeroflyte 3 ай бұрын
The street is very narrow anyway. There are only houses on one side so no room. Plus what driveways? Only three houses have front driveways which they put in. So no place to park but on the street. It would mean, if you wanted residents to leave room for large vehicles you would have to park in the next street over which would not work very well. Sorry to disappoint but your suggestion is not feasible since there is no other place to park.

@1959Aeroflyte
@1959Aeroflyte 3 ай бұрын
Sherry - in this case the developer told the drivers to not go down my street. They ignored that directive and did anyway because it is a very convenient place to turn around. I have talked to the developer and they took ownership of the issue and will be looking into repairs. Trucks were to go down the main road and turn around quite a distance away not on this street. The drivers, it appears ignore it. It was very refreshing to talk to the developer, where the damage occurred, and have they take full responsibility for it. The bigger problem will be the city of Calgary. They have their own contractors they use. And since this will involve concrete repair, sod/park repair, sprinkler system repair it will take months, if not years to fix.

They were already told how I got the video when I called in and they were given the same address. Get a life! I am way ahead of you. I was not hiding anything at all. And it is a micro drone which carries very few restrictions regarding flying. Here is the only paragraph relating to this class of drone usage by Transport Canada. Reckless or Negligent Operation 900.06 No person shall operate a remotely piloted aircraft system in such a reckless or negligent manner as to endanger or be likely to endanger aviation safety or the safety of any person. It is a micro drone - sub 250 g so has very few restrictions.

Yes it is. And the city does have a bylaw that says nothing can be affixed to a sound wall. And also nothing can be affixed permanently to a sound wall. Gluing is considered to be affixing with a permanent attachment.

Thank you. However (see below) I will not be shooting anymore of this site. The company, OPUS, asked for restriction on shooting with the drone. While I do not have to abide by them as I was doing things legally I am not shooting anymore after a certain date. I do have more I will be posting but after the June 16 one that will be it. Here are their requested restrictions: "As this is an active construction site, I would ask that no filming is done during working hours to ensure site safety which is of paramount importance to OPUS. Further, please refrain from dropping your drone into the site to take close up video. We would ask that if you are going to film, you keep your drone filming of progress anywhere over our site above the crane boom which is approximately 40m above the adjacent sidewalk." Andrew Wallace - Opus. These requested restrictions limit the filming too much.

@@1959Aeroflyte its sad that OPUS, the construction company is not allowing you to film directly on top of the construction zone but i do get why. Still, its nice that you will keep on posting drone shots since you are very experienced in taking drone shots, i do wish OPUS would let you shoot more videos of their construction since its very interesting watching how they work during working hours.

@@Kyckling_bulle I could still video but it is not worth the hassle they could cause. I have already checked with transport Canada etc and I am fine. As long as I do not land/takeoff on private property I am good. Transport Canada controls the airspace. I also do not capture faces etc which could be recognized. If I really wanted to be an ass I could talk to the house nearby, who I know, and ask them to ask Opus to not swing the crane over their house when rotating due to safety concerns of the crane falling apart and causing damage. Way more damage than my drone could do. In fact my drone is around 250 g so very light. I was out early this AM (July 5) to shoot more hot air balloon video.

@1959Aeroflyte you can record the construction still, you have an designated area for flying objects, planes n drones for an example. That is airspace, if u are 20+ meters above (depending on your areas drone rules) you enter airspace, nothing can restrict u up there besides recording someone else's privacy or flying in a high control zone, like next to an airport. Your drone is under 250g which makes it so u don't have to get s license for the drone, neither do you need to register it since it posed zero to little as a threat
@1959Aeroflyte
@1959Aeroflyte 4 ай бұрын
@@Kyckling_bulle Oh I am aware of the rules and I got my drone licence anyway even though not required. But flying it so high reduces the effectiveness of the video. In Canada only section 900.6 applies to drones in this class. 900.06 No person shall operate a remotely piloted aircraft system in such a reckless or negligent manner as to endanger or be likely to endanger aviation safety or the safety of any person.
