Hey Detroit Bob. I struggled to read the labels at the pace of the video…. Totally understand why you gotta speed it up though. Wow what great prices at that place! These are the ones I noticed: 38.05 William DeVaughn “Be Thankful for what you got Part 1 and 2” on Roxbury. Solid $15-$20 record. Disco/ low rider classic. I think you may have got that. 38.16 Irma Thomas “Time is in my side / Anyone who knows what love is will understand” on Imperial. This is in my want list, Discogs has it at medium $60, and yours had a factory sleeve. Not quite Northern Soul, but the OG version which the Rolling Stone famously covered (Irma’s version is better).

I put a link to an interesting article I read about the last record you featured as “gem of the week”. It was deleted. Oh well, now I know, no links…. I wanted to apologise I thought the featured record had Johnny Winter on guitar, it didn’t, although the record label was closely associated with both Johnny and Edgar Winter. It was in fact a guy called Homer Simons (not Simpson). Thought it was a cool swamp rock single, you did well Bob to trust your instincts and just pick it up. Cheers.

Always enjoy your record digs out in the wild. I know you have a Discogs site and you sell what you find, but do you collect records for yourself that you don't sell? If so, what do you collect? Do you buy on-line at all?
@RockMine15 күн бұрын
Jeff, yes discogs.com/user/DetroitBob is where I’m at. Most of my third Man records stuff I don’t sell. When I do sell a record my goal is to replace it with a better copy (condition wise or with picture sleeve). I look at it as a constant ever changing flow into and out of my collection. I’m learning and monitoring along the way the overall value. My goal is to build a million dollar collection and to inform, entertain and help others along the way. Thanks the question. ✌️🎶👍🏻😎

Hey Bob! Tremendous episode. I absolutely love the Third Man label and if I lived in the US would 100% subscribe. I’m so glad you did go back for that record, a lot of great stuff on the Rojac label. I’m based in Singapore where it’s a surprisingly interesting record collecting scene. I find all sorts of cool stuff here especially UK freakbeat and psych 45s. I also collect local records of which there is some truly interesting material. Your channel has really inspired me to want to do my own KZbin channel about collecting 45s. Bob, youd find the record you want at record shows for not a lot of money if you settle for records that are less than mint or VG plus. I've got tons and stacks of northern soul from record shows for a little to nothing. Now what I wanna recommend is that you visit a record store in Dallas I forgot the name of it but it is right off a freeway and a place is huge I've never seen a store so big in my life and all they sell is 45s most of them are reprint repress issues on the collectible label and others they also have some originals but there are thousands upon thousands of records it's in ocean of 45 I haven't been there in a few decades I'm hoping they're still open if you ask somebody from Dallas they might be able to tell you the name of the place. Good luck
