What a terribly biased comparison. Polaris isn’t bad but doesn’t compare with kubota as a utility vehicle. As a sport side by side the Polaris obviously wins, but if your getting a side by side to rip over roots and have a fast 0-60 the ranger diesel is literal trash. I don’t know how these tests are useful in any way…

I’d rather the kubota diesel over the ranger diesel but if the ranger was a gasser I’d take it

So how much did Polaris pay for this review? Very biased and only reviewed categories Polaris was superior in.

1:09 " Look at this, even at 25 MPH, the Ranger absorbs bumps like they're not even there" Yeah, right.

These videos are old... The new 2019 Kubota X1140 would be a good comparison. Other than speed, the new suspension is fantastic and is a over all better machine.

I admire Polaris as a company , but their products are lets say on the light duty of the market and don't directly compare with Kubota. Just lookout the 600 pound weight difference. Thats all extra metal, with a tractor like drivetrain and integral frame,, the best small diesel engine on the planet and real hydraulics. The Polaris has a scaled upped Quad drivetrain with a low bid diesel engine, thus it still retains the glorified fan belt for a drive system. Their frames and suspension parts are made of real thin metal . My estimation is the Polaris is good for maybe 3000 hours before falling apart,, while a typical kubota can easily last 10,000 hours and still work fine. It is gutless and is not competitive as a weekend wheeler, but so is a tractor. There is a place for both. Ive owned and repaired both. Quite a few Polaris units including their Snow mos, and a lot of Kubota products, engines, tractors, excavators and even a couple of lawn mowers. All top quality. Kubota= Industrial/commercial vs Polaris= home owner/weekend warrior. That would be the best way to put it.

I wanna see a pull test better yet pull each other. I bet my kubota 1000 will drag that ranger. Now don’t get me wrong I like rangers for the speed and their better off-road but kubota built the rtv for work and mine hasn’t let me down. I get stuck throw it in low and crawl out.

The Kubota is literally useless off road we have one at the farm it's really annoying getting stuck in places a lawn mower would get through. And 22hp and weighing 2000lbs the power to weight ratio goes to the lawn mower as well.

I honestly find that very hard to believe that a Kubota 4x4 UTV will get stuck that easily. And you have to understand how Diesel and horsepower work. For instance a 4020 John Deere tractor which is pretty dam big tractor is only 90 hp, yet it is a very extremely powerful tractor, and will pull huge plows and discs. This same thing applies to the UTVs.

But the kubota has a hydrastatic rive and the ranger is a belt driven transmission right?

A couple important notes for anyone considering purchasing a Ranger EV. These have the worst 4WD possible. If you are using the motor to hold you back going downhill, the rear tires slide down the hill, while the front tires roll free! If you want to back uphill from a stop, the rear tires will dig out your grass and then the front tires will finally kick in. Not good if you are attempting to grow grass. You cannot put these machines in and out of 4WD when you want to! Also if you load the rear box to spec, you will have about one inch of ground clearance. You will hit all the small rocks down the middle of your trail. The Ranger EV cannot take much of a rear load at all - maybe 200 to 300 lbs. And the charger undercharges when you need a charge badly, and overcharges (I'm talking boiling batteries, strong sulfur/hydrogen smell) after short trips. Unless you want to keep unplugging it manually, you'll have to store the machine outdoors. The motor tends to get louder over time. The whine will drive you crazy at times, especially when going uphill. There is no low gear setting to take some of the load off the motor and raise the RPMs for short uphill periods in exchange for temporarily reduced efficiency and slower speed. This is a heavy machine to not have power steering. Small ruts, stumps, and rocks will fatigue your arms quickly. Water from the windshield travels under the hood directly onto the electrical components. The Polaris warranty states that electrical components that fail from water are not covered. The EV has its positive points, but what I mentioned here must be exposed for the consideration of those who might be contemplating its purchase.
