I would love to see your thoughts on how Terror Management Theory can tie into self-preservation and situations such as assisted dying where individuals choose to end their own life. Surely individuals who are open or welcoming to the idea of death would not react the same way to a Mortality Salience test as those seen in other research.

Interesting points, and I would agree with you. There is some limited evidence that does suggest that perhaps we can confront death and come to accept it to a certain degree, with some studies suggesting that some people can react differently to Mortality Salience. Moreover, deeper death reflections which would be similar to near death experiences (mortality salience studies are much briefer, superficial reminders of death) also tend to generate slightly different outcomes than the one's discussed here. However, whether we can fully embrace the terror of death is an open question - while I think there are ways of dealing with it other than just the need to believe in something greater than one's mortal self and pursue immortality, I do think that it's still likely an important component - just not the only way of managing it.

"..That ultimately, death reminds us that we are no more significant or enduring than a porcupine or a potato!" 😂 Great video btw - it was really informative and engaging. Loving the content! :)

"Be absolute for death; either death or life Shall thereby be the sweeter. Reason thus with life: If I do lose thee, I do lose a thing That none but fools would keep: a breath thou art, Servile to all the skyey influences, That dost this habitation, where thou keep'st, Hourly afflict: merely, thou art death's fool; For him thou labour'st by thy flight to shun And yet runn'st toward him still." - Shakespeare, Measure For Measure

So like... am I the only one who dislikes (most kinds of) meat just for the taste?

Perhaps-I love meat for its taste. I’m SO conditioned that I see certain live animals and grow hungry-but recoiled at the thought of them being killed.
