Not sure I fully understand what the issue was removing the original light. What did you have to do to get it out once you broke the cover off?

So aside from being late and too many beers, there was no issue. I was pushing on the wrong area and it was all user error.

I just got the 07. My wife calls it my retirement Tinker Toy. My goal is like eating an elephant, one bite at a time. 1 fix per week per week is the plan. Keep making the videos. Not too fast because my list is getting a bit long. lol

Looks great to me. I just bought an 07 in Burgundy. I am planning on doing the blackout/undercoat on all of the black trim and the silver gizmos. I like the running boards and plan on getting that style and undercoating them as well. My 1st thing is getting the under carriage stripped and getting Linex coating. Goes into the body shop in April for a new paint job as well. One question on your mirrors. Did you paint them or buy new ones and how do you replace the bulbs in those mirrors? Thanks.....Dave
@FJColby4 күн бұрын
Hey Dave! Grats on the 07. I bought the black mirrors and handles (from 1a auto, or Amazon…can’t recall). Changing the mirror bulbs are easy but scary. You have to pop off the actual mirror by tilting it up and then sticking a trim tool underneath and twisting. There are tons of videos that show this. I would recommend watching them first lol

Thanks for this vid! Your rig looks sick! Have a Voodoo Blue as well! I was actually just looking for a vid on rear bumper removal to get those bottom reflectors out and replacing them with smoked led turn and brake signals! Another project i'm working on is the complete DIY headlights with Demon and Angel Eye (debating led vs ballast) currently have the tried and true ballast. All other signals are led smoked so watching your vid also tempting me the 'black out' the complete bumpers and grill.

Thanks a ton. I’ve thought about replacing those reflectors on the rear bumper as well, and after getting the bumper off and seeing how everything is connected, it doesn’t seem too bad. Just will have to sort the wiring out. I loved the silver accents when I first got the FJ in 2008, but it is definitely more modernized with the trim black. Thanks again!

You painted both bumpers... I'm just wanting to Blackout the silver wing parts, since my bumpers look good. Does the Texture of that product match the texture of the OEM bumper or is it smooth like spray paint? As far as the front skid plate, I would get a OEM "TDR" plate to install. I also matched the skid plate with a set of RCI skid plates, with the Cat guards, on both my FJ & the GF's 4Runner. Looks great and the GF thinks extra weight made her 4Runner feel more stable.
@FJColby4 ай бұрын
This bed liner reminds me of the same kind of look as plasti dip, but with a little more texture. I would say if you are comparing this bed liner to the OEM plastic and looking at them under a foot away, the bed liner is a little more textured than the plastic. However if you just did the wings, from about 5 feet away it would be a match…as long as you have treaded the plastic bumper with a trim restorer or cerakote. As far as the skid plates, i will definitely look into those! Thanks for the comment.

the FJ's backup camera is located in the center of the spare wheel from the factory the one you have is added by the dealer I still don't know why some dealers cheap out on it and install an aftermarket one. I have a 16 FJ from the Saudi dealer and it comes with the factory camera that works on the rearview mirror another example is The UAE's dealer puts the camera in one of the license plate lights .
