Why are you drumming like that? It’s definitely not helping me compare the cymbals.. and if that’s just how you drum I’m going to encourage you invest in a metronome and hire an instructor👍 I’m not trolling .. no offense intended

Good God it's painted on! That I did not know. I thought it was cut from sheets of sticky-backed plastic (all the rage in 1970s Britain). The auction place is only 30 miles away from me as well. My boss gets stuff there from time to time but he won't have seen this. Believe it or not, back in the 80s Zep were completely out of fashion and considered dinosaurs in the UK. What happened to the stuff in that touring company isn't surprising at all. Who remembers the story about Bonham's timpani being on the shop floor in Foote's Percussion in London for years? Literally gathering dust with his hand prints still on the skins. Then there was a customer of where I work who bought Bonham's first Ludwig kit and then couldn't sell it on in the back of the Rhythm magazine classifieds. I still have those old mags with the ads he ran each month. No one - no one - was interested in Bonzo's first kit! In the end he traded it in at Johnny Roadhouse music in Manchester. It wasn't until the 90s that people started rediscovering Zep. Trust me, in the 80s their memorabilia value in the UK was really low value.

IMO there is, or was, something applied to the inside around the edge. Maybe it is that sticky plastic you speak of. Like a one side super sticky Saran Wrap?
@thedrumdoctor17 күн бұрын
@@bonzoleum Yes, agree, there always looked like there was some sort of 'Powerstroke' type ring stuck to the inside. The sticky-backed plastic of the 70s was always coloured, I don't remember any clear pieces. It was manufactured to cover furniture - hard wood tables and chairs - normally in gaudy bright colours. I remember it being branded 'Fablon' and it was pretty damn fugly! I wonder if Mick Hinton cut a clear 26 head and created a DIY 'Powerstroke' ring. Maybe that's where Remo/Evans got the inspiration from when they started to manufacture inner rings for tone control? There was either something stuck there in one of the reso heads on the Vistalite, or it's an optical aberration.

Years ago I heard Pat sold the Vistalites to a collector for a mere $60K. Copeland auctioned his blue Tamas (Stewart needs $121,600 like I need another cymbal!); those Tamas belong in a museum. He's talking some smack I've never heard before over on Dr**eo (posted early this morning 9-24).

Ok. On cheap B8. Ive owned top end Zildjian. Sabian. And Meinl. And, Ive ALWAYS LOVED Paiste for what they do with B8. Recently been really considering going with Paiste. So my wife and I go out tonight to hear a friends band play. And Im digging the drummers sound. So, during a break, I go up to check out his plates. Mostly Zildjian ZBT!!!! B8 alloy. The bottom end, and sounded great, granted outside. So, you are absolutely right about the sound of even cheap B8. Think Im jumping on the Paiste train!!!

Something like this could easily be duplicated if they have a depictive photo of it. Aside from Bonham supposedly owning this and without authentic documentation of sorts, there's nothing out of the ordinary which would deem this almost impossible to replicate.
