Appreciate the kind words. I agree that would be cool, ha ha, but I literally just use my iPhone to do these. Don’t have any other cameras or software or mics or anything that a real video maker would use.

Dude this is SOOOO sick!!! Great job, favorite band and awesome salute to one of the greatest drummers. I also play and am having real tough time breaking down those fills, do u have any tips or transcribes?? Thanks for sharing new friend!
@nickhajek4 жыл бұрын
Hey Kenrick, greatly appreciate the comment. As for the fills, I definitely don’t play them the way Matt does. I mostly just throw them around the kit. I think he (from watching videos) tends to keep his fills mostly on snare and accenting in his toms. The key is obviously being able to do a sustained 16th note roll at 170bpm or whatever the song is. Good luck, I know you’ll get it.

Rafa Santos Thanks for the kind words Rafa! I have to be honest in saying that I have no idea what jamgle.com is. What would it entail to do the cover? Is it live via web-cams or what? I'd be interested, but just need more info. Thanks again for the kind words.
@rafasantos88499 жыл бұрын
Nick Hajek hey man! no, it's not live, everyone records his own track with his intruments, following the same backing track (to have the same bpm) and we upload the videos on jamgle.com where they will be mixed, as explained here jamgleblog.wordpress.com/2015/05/19/how-to-make-the-perfect-jam/ if you want we can start with the Rat (actuallly if you have a drums-only audio of this you could use it already!) if u prefer let's talk via email [email protected] ;)

Thanks for the comment Carla. I am mostly self taught, but am taking lessons now. Though, I doubt anyone would consider this to be a high level of skill. This is pretty basic in the drum world, just a fun song to play. Thanks again!
@chrisgannuscio221710 жыл бұрын
If I'm not mistaken, it's a Slingerland. It looks like the "zoomatic" strainer, but I wouldn't swear to it.
@nickhajek10 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris, thanks for the response. I took the snare to a classic drum show a couple years back and it was identified as an 'early 60's Japanese Import Pearl'. The only emblem I can find on the kit is on the high tom, the mounting hardware just simply says 'Japan'. Apparently, when Pearl was just making a ton of drum sets for American consumers who were really into rock 'n roll. The snare belonged to my grandpa and his professional kit that he played out with was a Slingerland due to his infatuation with Buddy and Gene, etc. Thanks again.
@nickhajek11 жыл бұрын
Awesome. I, actually also bought a 13x7 snare not too long ago. But it's by Tama, their SLP G-Maple series. It's amazing.
@danielmyers0611 жыл бұрын
i forgot to comment back again to say that i saw this kit at GC and bought it. I have had it for two years now and have gotten nothing but compliments, i also bought the 13x7 vented snare. What a monster! i use the Evans G2's coated..and the kick sounds sick! Pork Pie makes some killer drums.

Hey Sean, sorry, I missed this comment. Thanks for the kind words. Double bass is not my forte, not sure I'll ever be good at it. But it's fun to try. And yeah, I ordered the extra toms. The kit came with the 12 and 16's. Then I ordered the 10 and 14. Truth be told. I don't even play the 10...just my preference. Thanks again, be well.

Nick, I have a good teacher and yes rudiment, rudiment,rudiments, are the mantra. I calculate by my 5000th flam I will have it almost perfected. My teacher was asked by another student what exercises he could do to build up his skills. the student meant weights or running, whatever. My teacher said play the drums, you want to exercise and get better, play the drums, practice, practice, practice your rudiments. Peace brother thanks for the reply.
@nickhajek11 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for the very kind words! Really means a lot. If you're just starting out, here's a small bit of advice, and I of course say this not knowing what you're doing in terms of lessons or anything, but rudiments, rudiments, rudiments. Study them, memorize them, play them. Over and over. I didn't do that when I started out and I regret it immensely now. I'm playing a lot of catch up. Other than that, have fun and be patient. Drums are a labor of love. Thanks again, be well.
