When the mall was first built it had no elevators. Only escalators and stairs. The elevators were a later addition. I remember they were installed right around the time Star Trek 4: The Voyage Home was about to hit theaters. For the elevator dedication ceremony, they brought in James Doohan (Scottie.) After the ceremony, he stayed for a little while to greet fans and sign autographs. My dad, sister, and I were in line to get an autograph. We were literally the next people to go in and get an autograph but they closed to rope right in front of us. Grrrr, so close.

This is such nostalgic footage for me. Thank you for sharing. I grew up right down the road and would go to this mall every so often. I vividly remember walking around this mall with family friends as a kid. I also remember the movie theater attached to it (facing the beltway) and how it was left vacant for years before anything was done to it. Lots of graffiti lol. I miss this mall, however, CityCentre isn't all that bad..just way too expensive

The amount of bags TSA check every day; they are not going to be at all surprised at finding at least 1 saucy item! The "you little minx" look was basically to embarrass the bag's owner more than anything else.

The elevators weren't even part of the original construction, they were added later. James Doohan was a guest at the grand opening of the elevators.

Do you HAVE to have the top down to do this? I have my removable hardtop on and I just need to put one of the screws back in from that center lock bracket by the windshield that fell out. I can hear it rattling around in the plastic. It’s the middle of winter where I’m at and no garage.
