It's in my B-52's top-5 - it's a shame that Cindy didn't get to sing more songs on the albums...she deserves more credit as a singer.

Probably the only B52's song with harmonica..or at least faux-harmonica. I was captivated by Cindy the first time I saw her on Saturday Night Live. I fell head over heals in love with her at the Hollywood Palladium in 1980. When she sings these minor chords, pulling heartstrings doesn't begin to cover what she does. Simply amazing and beautiful. RIP Ricky

Yep, I still wonder why they haven't been inducted in the rock and roll hall of fame. They are original, creative, and quite talented.
@sozontius8 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, for the wider audience they are most recognizable only for ''Cosmic Thing', and ''Flinstones' period. Most people don't know how fantastic 'total album's band' they are and also very progressive, diversive, influential...It's a pitty that the last studio album ''Funplex'' didn't get better recognition and comercial success! It's a truly masterpiece too!!!
@mrlonno82018 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree 100% I would have released a couple of singles more and they videos frim Funplex. Their music is way ahead of time.

aleksandar stanojević Interesting choice of Floyd tracks......I think Echoes and Shine On have to be their finest works, but I do think the Animals album is excellent. I don't thing Waters quite got the lyrics right on Pigs though.....
@sozontius9 жыл бұрын
pdmcwywh thanks! :)) yeah! ''Echoes'' is a true masterpiece (one of my favourite PF pieces too), 'Wish You Were Here'' album too :)) It's so difficult to pick any particular song in that glorious and unbeatable ''Waters driving force period''...''The Wall'' is my extra special favourite album, but somehow i picked ''Hey You''...!? :)) OOOH, I like so much Waters Orwellian lyrics on ''Animals'' album! :))
@pdmcwywh9 жыл бұрын
aleksandar stanojević Alek, I would say WYWH is the finest PF album and personally for me the finest piece of music in the history of rock music - if you HAD to pick one album! I think the theatrical material on The Wall lets it down...Vera, Bring the Boys Back Home......The Trial - they are awful and belong on a solo album. I think they should have expanded the Another Brick in the Wall theme and cut out the stuff I mention. Dark Side is perfect, but it does not draw you in like WYWH - in my opinion. My tutor at Cambridge was at school with Dave Gilmour and keeps in touch, they were best pals. I never met him but narrowly missed doing so once in Cambridge as a student right at the time of The Wall....
@sozontius9 жыл бұрын
pdmcwywh yes, in my opinion WYWH is even better than DSOFTM, but i simply adore every secoond of theatrical 3rd side of ''The Wall'' album) :)) I think it gives the album some extra and new quality and that ''The Wall'' practically became the rock opera! :)) I must say that i don't like what Gilmour had done with his wife and with Rick and Nick and other guest musicians after Roger left the band (in December 1985.) That was total catastrophy and enormous shame but it's something which didn't surprise me at all! Everybody knows 'which one is Pink?'' :))) Sorry, this is my deep and constant impression for a long, long time! :))

Oh, the B-52´s and Bouncing off the satellites, and specially this song brings me bittersweet memories. Firstly, I was so happy to be listening to a brand new album from my favorite band back somewhere by the end of 1986. When I read the KCT´s booklet, I couln´t understand the special dedication to the memory of Ricky Wilson... WTF I thought, how can it be? You must understand there was no internet at the time and living in Central America didn´t give me the chance to hear the sad sad news. It still touches my heart and almost makes me cry. My guitar hero, my favorite new wave guy was gone. It´s never been the same since then. I loved the B´s very much. I remember going to all my highschool parties with their PARTY MIX LP under my arm and it was impossible that it wasn´t played more than once, specially the A side, although I loved the B side very much as well, but it wasn´t too well known, except for fans. In this cold morning I save a prayer for Ricky Wilson, he´s my favorite artist of all time.
