23:48 Absolutley wrong!! The three fotos (plan is Villa Sternheim) show a private house from Gebrüder Luckardt from the same era and located very near Mendelsohns private house, but it is not. And no!: The house is not a museum. It´s a house owned by someone who let almost nobody in. No guide tours, no even archtitects or book authors with the topos of Erich Mendelsohn. It´s a shame. This last for decades..... ;-)

I would like to point out the boldness and experimentalism from a technological point of view of the figure of Luigi Moretti. On the image at minute 23:31, we can see how the staircase, if you pay attention, is "strangely" connected to the first landing. This happens because, in reality, the ladder works, from a static point of view, like a shelf. The last step of the first flight is therefore not connected to the landing. Incredible, beautiful and bold!

Beauty is what is needed by the poor, as well as well as the rich, work on that first and then we can see what modern architecture can do. So far it's all failure. Buildings that become monstrous in 20-40 years. The modernists need to find stable beauty and not one-offs, then we can move forward and satisfy all people. Brutalist buildings have proven to be very efficient. But why do so many people get depressed by it?Architecture needs to break out of its elitist bubble and give people what they want and not what an architect thinks they need - I believe.

Are you seriously saying this Architect needs to be showcased? His projects were trial and error with complicated rather than complex outcomes. It’s sad when communicative people earn plaudits from their talk rather than their real work ! Experimentation at the clients expense and exasperation

He was NOT a selfmade man! He actually did evening classes in architecture and worked for architectur/furniture Klaarhammer… So saying he never formally study architecture is total nonsense! Not taking anything away from his genius and originality… but he was formally trained!

@@DJReally 100 = sto, in Macedonian also; stotinu in Serbian (this is different). So, if in Polish, then it is also good. If. (Sto)wasser > (Hundert)wasser - the reason is stll unknown, maybe it is of playfulness, maybe of wish not to be connected with Slaves, "Whatever," would probably say Mr. Coma. :)

Hello! I love your presentations... And comment regularly on them... Recently, you mentioned a comment about America and the amount of air ducting they had in their buildings... I think it was a quote from Herzog De Meuron or Coop Himmelblau. Can you recall who made the quote and where you obtained it from? Tks...
@internationalconversationsАй бұрын
Hello Minesh, Thank you for being an active member of the channel. We have forwarded your comment to Mr. Dan Coma but, unfortunately, he was unable to recall this particular comment he made. Perhaps if you point us to a specific video and a specific time interval we may be able to provide an answer. Thank you!

@internationalconversations not a problem! I think it was a presentation on John Portman, where he referred to a comment a Star Architect (I think it was either someone from Coop Himmelblau or one of the partners of Herzog De Meuron) made about the proliferation of vent ducting in American buildings which suggested there is more space given to ducting in an American building than the building itself! Or something along those lines... Not to worry if he can remember who it was..

These are Yugoslavian Memorials. Conceptually, anti-separatist/anti-regression (anti-national) by intent, based on modernist principles... Sadly memory is something contemporary society don't trust in anymore. Observing spectacle of war and genocide. Listening w/o thinking to stupid mentality of psychopaths, while morally obese criminals judge and preach righteousness.

You hit the nail on the head. In the comfort of my home and in front of my computer, I'm free to engage in or not with any content I wish. I do not know who the 'we' in your comment is, but I stopped listening to these talks precisely because of their lack of information and knowledge about architecture. Like your channel, Archi Student, there is little to subscribe to. Given some familiarity with the speaker's style, I was interested to hear how he performed on the subject of slums. Architecture is a serious subject. There is nothing more serious than how a society builds for itself. The fact that slums exist speaks clearly to the problems society has building for itself. We can study slum buildings and their typologies, but this should not be used to develop an academic interest or, in this case, a superficial one. Nor should the eccentric nature of many of the discussed architects be used for idle academic or, again, superficial interest. Like slums, they are failures, not successes.@@achistudent

Incredible video, International Celebrations in Architecture. Looking forward to seeing your next upload. I hit the thumbs up icon on your content. Keep up the excellent work! The connection you made between Jimi Hendrix's music and architecture is fascinating. How do you think modern architects could further integrate artistic expressions into their designs to reflect cultural narratives?

Some interesting work that reads sort of post modern with the patterns, and simplified forms referential to historical architectural elements. If the Americana hotel was raw cement it would be super brutalist. Not exactly sure what defines the genre of Miami or Resort Modern but its kind of fun. Thanks for sharing.
