In 1975 I joined a company that made US scales, and the older ones worked with an 80kg calculator. One day a customer was flooded, I restarted the machine with a hair dryer, from there I said to myself that it was neither brass nor copper, it was 21 karat gold and it there were 60 grams per machine. We threw away a huge amount of it before I saw it, but I was nevertheless able to collect some change and quite a bit for the time. GENERAL ELECTRIC relay with north and south marked for magnetism. Bonne journée

Can i ask what do u suggest we do with it when we have collected up enough little gold plated pieces? 🤔 I'm from Ireland, just started out Makin jewelry, have recently been Collecting up gold plated electronics too, but I don't think I could refine it down myself? What do u suggest

Let's say you had 20 grams of gold. 25% of it is gold plated and the rest is solid gold. If you melt them together will the brass or copper mix in with it or will it burn off and you'll be left with solid gold?

Question and a comment, all gold carrys electrical properties so why would any body with any brains at all use 24 K the most costly best gold instead of using 10 K?

Generally manufactures have got better over the years in the gold components and Fingers/Pins in their items. and nowhere will you find 24 Caret gold, its normally 10-14 Car in the manufacturing.

People scrapping vintage items for whatever reason are evil and the reason it's so difficult to find vintage items. Instead of scrapping vintage items, either sell them as-is or refurbish/restore them to either their original condition or at least functional condition then sell. Scrapping vintage items for metals is horrible.

The black blobs on the boards cover up thin bond wires. Save them up and then do the incineration process. U will be surprised on how much gold is in a few pounds of those. Much better then ic chips.

I see all these guys going after gold plating crap well then you need all these chemicals to recover it , well how much is the chemicals and what do you do with all the left over used chemicals . I dont think you guys on youtube showing people how to recover gold are being very resposible about all the hazards and safety of doing this .make a video about that insted .

From the UK. But I am American... Thank you. Building up my scrap parts bucket at this stage. I already started and I am lucky to have a chemist to assist me with very easy gold silver and copper extraction. So I can build bars of each. I am loving vids like this. Thank you

You have missed so much gold in the laser assembly. That is where the majority of the gold is. Not easy to get to though.
