He was dolled up and objectified so badly that he was never fully able to be taken seriously. His, admittedly, very attractive looks, became everyone's focal point, and despite his acting skills, he was never able to really break past that. Even today, i don't think too many people can truly see who he is, without immediately thinking about who he was.

This kid IS DORIAN GRAY, the analogy is barely even metaphorical; Visconti's cardinal sin WASN'T sexual perversion, IT WAS HEDONISM and the corruption of child caused by his hedonist self indulgence, Visconti is to Bjorn what Lord Henry Wotton is to Dorian Gray. Corporeal beauty is INTRINSICALLY tragic because it is INEVITABLY fleeting. The nature of Bjorn's exploitation DOES NOT need to necessarily include sexual abuse, the harm is EXISTENTIAL, because he was put upon a pedestal before the entire world and recognized EXCLUSIVELY for his adolescent beauty, turning 18 must have felt like living death for this kid. This is also the great danger of childhood celebrity in general, and frankly, the danger is GREATER than the harm of being merely sexually abused (I speak from experience in saying so). If I'd been set on the apex of the mountain called "Life" at the age of 15 and then faced my remaining many decades descending from that lost glory I'd develop a taste for alcohol too... anyone would, such a prospect is DEVASTATING to the soul. "To put the eyes on the beauty is to put the eyes on death", Luchino Visconti; HE KNEW everything I just articulated about the tragedy of objectified youth, he's a bastard for THAT REASON, not because he merely recognized that Bjorn was a LITERAL Adonis like everyone did and will always continue to do (if they deign to be honest).

Just looking at the documentary again now, and to me Bnorn/Tadzio does not have the beautifully balanced ‘Golden Mean’ face, perfect cheekbones and jawline, long full eyelashes, and smooth long neck that make adolescent Louis breathtakingly pretty. Bjorn had a long rather equine face with a long slightly craggy nose, and to me the only pretty features were his cheekbones and eyes.

They sued over 50 years later, but had no problem with the recognition,fame and wealth that followed. I think it was a beautiful scene, nothing sexual, and historically accurate (young brides older men). As a minor where were her guardians? Olivia herself stated she chose to conceal the prospect of doing a nude scene from her mother. So over 50 years later, the feeling of being offended & violated? I love the movie and Olivia, but I say bs on the lawsuit!

They seem to have been gaslighted by the adults until they emotionally awakened to their repressed feelings about it. Other people not having a problem with the scene or even liking it doesn’t mean it was right for the underage actors.

She was 15. Js because a CHILD didn’t understand then that it was wrong and grooming certainly doesn’t take away from the fact that she had kids of her own and realised just how young she was to be exposing her privates to the screen. It’s not like she was 18 or 19 where (by the law) it’s excusable, but she was definitely a minor and a victim. It was inherently sexual because they didn’t need to take those young actors’ clothes off in front of camera and the scene could have done without. She may have gotten money/fame from it but that doesn’t mean she didn’t also get trauma. Educate yourself x

For anyone who can remember more than a week before their last bowl of weed, the dumbest thing that convinced me that I would never again buy one more piece of filth from Hollywood ever again was in seeing John Cena making fun of what was done to him. Obviously they had to put him through the process to gain access into the Hollywood boys club. But in anyway no matter who they claim to be or how moralistic they might say just like John doing that, he proved he was part of their sleeze.

But didn't he also say the exact opposite, like all of us do in life? That he really enjoyed his life? Kind of like getting drunk with your buddies. It's really, really fun. Then you puke the entire next day. Kind of like marriage. It's awesome for years and years. And then you get divorced. And then you're in hell forever.

It’s so nice to hear that. She had this otherworldly sort of look in Romeo and Juliet. I remember being mesmerized by her face in high school wondering “was she oriental, was she Russian? She must be Russian…” turns out Argentina if I am not mistaken So many of the beautiful actresses from her time or even now go and get an awful amount of work done on their face & it’s like “do you really want to mar with this thing God gave you?” I personally believe there is beauty to be had in accepting that your face is maturing and there is life you have lived ❤ We only get so much time to be young in terms of how you look, so just enjoy it

Damn Germain Greer! I also have to disagree with giving him the title of Most Beautiful Boy in the World. That title would have to go to the 18-20 year old Louis Tomlinson (who looked 15.) He was the most stunningly beautiful boy I’v ever seen, so much so that many straight male celebs have said they felt gay when they looked at him.
@LepenskiVir4 ай бұрын
Nah, Bjorn is more beautiful. But for me the most beautiful MAN in the world would be the English actor Luke de Woolfson from Late Night Shopping and the Canadian actor Michael Sarrazin from the CBC series Wojeck Pick a Time, Any Time AND a man next door to me, he he.

@@LepenskiVirJust looking at this video again and I still think that in contrast Louis had such a perfect ‘Golden Mean’ beauty, symmetry of features, gorgeous cheekbones and jawline, full long eyelashes, and a lovely smooth long neck. He had a golden hue to his skin that made his ocean blue eyes stand out. I know… I’m raving 🤪; many did. On the other hand, to me Bjorn/Tadzio had a too long, somewhat equine face, a long rather craggy nose, and I find his only pretty features were his cheekbones and blond hair. I found his mouth too sullen and pouty to be appealing. I know I sound mean and I hope he doesn’t see this, but he just does not please my artist/actor eyes. However, what do I know about the things that gay aesthetes of that time might find attractive?
