Its Napoleon code, now the French Civil Code, has been used in more than 80 countries to develop their modern laws. If he was a tyrant, then all the countries of the world are dictatorships.

Even though we've been to Paris (first in 1976!) several times and used the Metro (in addition to many subways around the world - they work the same!), this video was a good prep and I don't think we have been on the Arts et Métiers station which looks amazing. Thanks, very helpful!

Napoleone Buonaparte is his real name, from Corsica. His family originally from Tuscany fought with Pasquale Paoli against France.He change Is surname in Bonaparte because he was discriminated. He had a very strong Italian accent.
@stickygeiden9 ай бұрын
Nope, he choose to change it himself before entering school, so wat before being bullied. Stop your italian propaganda.
@carlogrignaschi87739 ай бұрын
You are ignorant or you are lying: Bonaparte or Buonaparte? The surname was originally Buonaparte and not Bonaparte, it was Napoleon himself who changed it, after the death of his father and a few days before getting married to Josephine de Beauharnais, in 1797.

@@MajorDenisBloodnok That's everyone's way of saying that the Corsicans don't want him?
@MajorDenisBloodnok5 ай бұрын
@@whutdatytopsy9651 And?!? Napoléon was French and his tittle was Emperor of the French, not of the Corsicans, Corsicans who happened to be French citizens in 1804 and still are until now, maybe not for long... So if you want to say that Corsicans were divided about Napoléon, yes they were and certainly still are (like many French people, even if for most of the people it is just a bunch of old stories). Corsicans who want the independence of Corsica are certainly not pro Napoléon. The old story : Napoléon = a French Corsica, Paoli = a independent Corsica.

I went to Paris many years ago and visited Napoleon’s Grave site. It was so beautiful considering what the last years of his life were. Napoleon is my favorite early historical person. To get middle school kids interested in history, I would especially the girls tell them the deep love he has for Josephine and the lovely soaps and perfumes he would give her. History has a wonderful way to help you understand the character of these people both European and American history when you get into the thinking of those that are mentioned. You have to see where a country begins to understand where it is now.

Took 8 coalitions and more than 20 years to beat him. He didn't surrender to the English but to the Coalition. Waterloo was won by the coalition as well, the english had 31 000 soldiers, Blucher and Prussia had 50 000, not to mention Netherland, Hannover, Brunswick...All had troops
