Though I am in love with your bright and colorful paintings, I find this current series you're working on with subtle colors so appealing. When this video opened, I was struck by the delicate beauty of the paperwork behind you and thought it was a finished piece. But the continuing work only improves the overall feeling and I like it even more. I was thinking why haven't I started a series myself? I am so inspired by yours that I do need to attempt a series myself. Have a lovely week.

Honestly, it gives me goosebumps the similarities I see between you and me every time I watch a video! I just looked up the word "abstruse" a week or two ago - you talk about looking it up in your beloved dictionary in this video. Is that bizarre, or what? (It has an "s" in the beginning, like abstract - yours was missing the first "s".) There are so many coincidences in each video that by the time I get to the end I've forgotten most of them, but just feel the connection. You talked about "play" in this video, and the need for it in our serious lives, and I couldn't agree more! If experiencing joy isn't the purpose of life, what is? You mentioned Marie Kondo in another video, and her concept of "sparking joy." Yahoo. Let's go for it! I love your joyful willingness to just go with the flow even when your collage is peeling off. What a process of discovering, that you would never have experienced if you got mad at it and tossed it aside or tossed it out! Happy painting, Gaynor. Have a lovely week. I hope it's a beautiful spring in England. We're about to enter a 3-day heatwave with temperatures in the high 30s. Good time to stay indoors and just paint!

I don't know why you said you shouldn't paint with so much yellow, because I absolutely LOVE that painting that you show at the end, finished and framed, which has a lot of yellow. So much lovely in this video from over a year ago! Just to remind you, you show a lot of frames that you got at charity shops here. That reminds me of me, as I have quite a collection that I have gotten FREE at our local "Reuse" stores, located at our local dumps (tips), where we can drop off anything we no longer have use for, and pick up anything there that we would like. It is quite amazing, and it saves so much going into the landfill. Every video of yours I find so inspiring and I am every so grateful that my friend introduced me to you. She and I were on a bus tour today and were talking about you - she saying how vibrant and lively you were and how much she loves your work. Me again saying how much your are helping me discover my own art voice, and how inspired I am by all that you share in these videos. You are never too "talkey" for me. Wax on about anything... @@gaynorpattle no, really! 😀 Hence your love for the Old Town and the pull to keep returning! Having spent my first 19 years growing up in Eastbourne/Bexhill I certainly do miss being by the sea and unfortunately don’t really get the time to appreciate it when I am there. And no, I didn’t get time to pop over or Hastings during this visit! I love watching your painting trips as you seem to visit many spots familiar to me. Cadiz is another favourite place of mine. When having the pleasure of living in Jerez I used to take all my visitors to Cadiz! Does Craig paint? If not, I’m intrigued as to how he occupies himself whilst you are having fun with paint and making videos for all your devoted followers!! 😄

I personally feel that criticism is a very bad thing. However, critique can be a very good thing. For me personally those beautiful little landscapes I think that rather than diving right onto them I would recreate one of them and then work on that for detail to see if there needed to be changes to those or I could just be adding to that series. However, that is just me.

I have so enjoyed discovering and following you for a while now! Watching this latest installment tonight, I was reminded of the first art/artist I ever knew. He lived up the road from us and moved away by the mid 1950s, probably before I was 8 or 9. He had converted one of the huge chicken coops his parents had into a very modern home. He was a police photographer but he was also a mosaic artist and, I believe, a painter, and had made several small mosaic pools on the property. Back in the 1950s, we kids in the neighborhood would wander from house to house, not necessarily to play with kids, since he had none, but also to investigate what was happening and to chat with the adults. He was a bit odd - afraid that kids would fall into his pools - but he fascinated me, and drove an old green Land Rover with the spare tire clamped to the top of the hood/bonnet. Who knows what things draw us into a life of creativity! Keep on trying new things! I love it!

Dear Gaynor, oh please please don’t touch your bird painting! When I just heard you say you had to deal with the bottom left side, sort of bluish, I was aghast! To me this painting is charming, simple, perfect, finished! Why do you see these areas as imperfections? So often I see the ‘modernity’ of your work in its simplistic somewhat unfinished state. This is what you seem to strive for, the modernity, but then you wipe it all away and start something else when the very beginning was so cool! Let me encourage you! You are on the right path and I salute your fresh modern style! Bravo and thankyou for these great videos! Be blessed, Mary in Arizona, USA

Hello Gaynor, yes I asked about all your paint, so thanks for the mention. You still haven’t shown us how you store it all, or your brushes, inks or sketchbooks etc. I’m still curious. 🤔 Regarding unhelpful or negative nasty comments, you do have to have a thicker skin, but I share your sensitivity. Just remember that if you’ve sold work then someone loves it enough to purchase it. The people that make the horrible comments are most probably actually jealous of you, and they make these comments to make themselves feel better. It’s about them, not you! I absolutely love the canvas with the pink. Don’t overwork it please😂😂😂 Have a good week. 💐

You seemed so down! Do you know about the negativity bias? It’s where our minds will focus and center on the negative feedback rather than the positive. It’s evolutionary… so we wouldn’t die from eating poison and such. But our minds aren’t really capable of handling the negativity on the internet. It’s too fast, to frequent and we have trouble discerning that the people giving us that feedback have no place to do so. All that to say - keep going. I love your channel and your work and your spirit. I’m also a painter and your work inspires me to keep going.

Love,Love,Love all the paintings you’re currently working on! Also agree with you about not letting negative comments derail you! Gaynor, for all the wonderful things the internet/social media allows they also give a voice to people who are keen on sharing misery...it bums me out sometimes. A long time ago someone told me.
