Hey, thanks for this. A great rhythm guitarist I play with insists that the loud note is the boom and the soft note is the chuck to make room for the mandolin chop on the off beat. What do you think?

Absolutely love your videos, Austin. My favourite part is the call and response. I never know what to do on my own, and being able to mimic you is not only training my ear to know where my fingers are going, but it's giving me the much needed ideas on how to play around with the scales. Love it.

Hi … thanks for this video. I went to your website and am interesting in getting this “Roadmap to Country and Bluegrass Mandolin” but the video is for a fiddle course. Would I be getting mandolin or fiddle instruction?
@AustinScelzoАй бұрын
Hi there! Glad you found it helpful- the roadmap to mandolin mastery is similar to fiddle with some crossover but different materials. The mandolin map comes with tab and video instruction for mandolin instruction. Thanks for letting me know about the video problem! I will check that out

Some good ideas for me there. I'm always trying to think what to play during vocals on mandolin rather than strumming/chopping along. Thank you!

Thanks Austin, so helpful. Question: what's the best way to memorize those patterns for a jam? Lets say the song is Your Love is like a Flower in A. Right now, I go kinda blank after I play the melody.....because I can't recall fast enough the shapes for each chord. Suggestions? thank :-)
@AustinScelzo2 ай бұрын
Sure! There are only 4 ways to play this pattern, starting on each finger. I have them written out here in order of difficulty- www.austinscelzo.com/sheetmusic (non-traditional notation is to come...) It will take some practice though. I suggest practicing in keys that allow you to work on these symmetrically - (using the same finger pattern for the 1, 4 and 5 chord) Those would be the keys of D, E, F, and G. If this doesn't make sense- consider dropping in on my weekly fiddle zooms- this is what we work on together! Austinscelzo.com/bluegrass

so glad I stumbled down the rabbit hole and found this video. You've explained things that things I've been working on for a long time so clearly that they now make sense. So many folks just do "licks" but I love how you incorporate them into a song and show so many techniques for that one tune. Great Job!! Thanks so much!
