Ron Allen is a shredder, he was a big influence in Skateboarding for me back in the day. He deserves everything and anything that is good that revolves around Skateboarding!!

Around 1980 I was 15, obsessed with skateboarding and the magazine. My female neighbor said she knew Russ Howell. We were in Long Beach on Glendora St. He ended up stopping by and selling me a skateboard. At the time he held the record for 360s. I was proud of that board, a little stiff, made for tricks.

Marina Del Rey was my home park, and I remember when the Skater Cross guys would show up, we’d give them a little crap saying stupid crap like “The Valley Kooks are here”, that is until Burt Lamar showed up….. We’ll never know what heights he could’ve reached because he stopped skating before he even reached his peaked. He just disappeared, until I ran across him when I was snowboarding at Bear mountain sometime around 92, and he still had that same smooth, style snowboarding as he did when he skated. Even saw him do some implants as well, lol!

My first skateboard was a G&S Pineapple deck. One of my 8th grade teachers was his aunt. First day of class, Mrs. Saladino comes in, and writes her name on the chalk board, and I asked her if she was related to Doug, and she said, yes, “He’s my nephew”. We hit it off right then and there.

I love penny. Some of the shit people say is a bit much though “even on a bad day you can tell he knows how to ride the terrain and a board” was a quote from Geoff rowley. Sorry but what skateboarder doesn’t know how to ride a board 😂

I used to skate with Foss, Cab, Denike and a guy named Plermo at Winchester. They won't remember me because I was about 11 when Winchester closed. A lot younger and pretty shy. But their skating definitely made an impression on me. Congrats!!!

That ollie over the three benches is just so mind-blowing, haha. God, what an amazingly good style and cool trick selection. He was before my time, but I've always been into 90's skating; dude was very near the top of the heap of street skaters at that time, for sure. Watching his parts is like putting on your favorite song when you're in the mood to jam out.
