Origins is my favorite but it is kinda awful BUT the companions are wonderful and very richly written

You mention nuance, but at the same time yourself make massively reductive arguements lumping all hate the game got in the same basket when 90% of the reviews hating on the game talked about other issues than just the ''woke stuff'' being problematic. Hell most of them even argued the exact same points you yourself made about representation first, character second and the modern lingo not fitting the setting for example. It feels like you saw or heard the word woke in a review and completely disregarded everything they had to say before and after because of it. Also i was flabbergasted when you presented the game having a skip button as an arguement against complaints about it having bad dialogue. Even if it was a bit tongue in cheek, there is no universe in which that is in any way an arguement.

Update. So turns out this game was made here in my city. aaand the lead dev is quitting and the studio is shutting down possibly. Crazy stuff.

Look more into Stellar Blade's lore and not from a 'Nier Automata' glasses perspective. This was SHIFT UP's first venture into the fully fledged videogame side of things.

It's so refreshing to hear someone have a mature discussion / critique about this game. I am a huge fan of the series. Origins is my favorite game. I genuinely enjoyed this game but according to the grifters there is apparently an arbitrary set of rules made up that if I enjoyed Origins then I'm not allowed to enjoy this one I have to pick one or the other and that's just stupid I'm allowed to enjoy all four games if I want to. that's the beauty of freedom. I'm just tired of the tourists complaining about the game being woke when lgbtqia+ representation has been a thing in every BioWare game. Thank you for having nuance and media literacy and actually fairly balancing the pros and cons instead of just blindly hating on the game over a couple of small issues. You earned yourself a subscription for your maturity

I'm sorry, this just does not feel like Dragon age to me. They're so worried about hurting people's feelings that they straight up Disney fight a dark fantasy franchise! You literally never see a drop of blood, beyond very few specific cutscenes.

I agree, Veilguard is a decent game if you can ignore the DA context. I played elves whenever I could in the previous DA, because it felt more impactful to be an ex-slave and still choose to help people rather than side with the alleged bad guys. I think DA4 should have ended with a choice to either help or hinder Solas, and thereby the players would vote for how the next DA would play out. Sanitizing the elves to avoid mentioning slavery also inadvertently created a situation whereby the two major cities in this game have eradicated the culture of the elves there, and further they killed all elves who didn't conform to the local racial phenotype. I find it extraordinarily creepy that all the elves in Treviso match to black haired/olive skinned racial subtype of the humans there. BTW, that Neve decision you showed *spoiler ahead shortly* it is suprisingly subtly hinted at (at least for this game) later that she either becomes Sherlock Holmes or Professor Moriarty.

Dragon Age: Origins is the GOAT. Each implementation after took a step away from the Dark Fantasy and/or weight of choice. Vailguard would have been better off without the DA title as it doesn’t seem to value where it originated from.

Sorry but just skipping poorly written, condescending slop can't be the solution. I don't want to be talked down to or lectured in my media. It's absolutely disrespectful und should be called out. As you said, pretty much nobody would have a problem with a nuanced, well written cast of characters, diverse or not.
@itcouldbelupus28423 күн бұрын
That's obviously not true, many gamers have a problem with diversity no Matthew well written it is, especially when the outrage merchants they watch tell them they should be mad
@AverageTESEnjoyer5783Күн бұрын
@@itcouldbelupus2842 I think you overistimate their influence. Nobody was complaining about the diverse cast in BG3 or Metaphor. Why? Because those games had good character wrtiting and respected their audience.
@itcouldbelupus2842Күн бұрын
@@AverageTESEnjoyer5783 plenty of people were and still are complaining about the diversity and how "woke" BG3 is actually. You could look up plenty of videos here or posts online doing just that.

Sure, a good video and a fair assessment. At the same time, it's also fair to point out that milder criticism or eventual ignorance of bad game design choices can count es *enabling.* And I'm absolutely not talking about the "woke" topic, with which I'm not really seeing a problem in general. The writing ruins the message and the characters, though. And there's dozens of other flaws, decently covered in many videos.

Blaringly late as usual but honestly as someone who loves elden ring and souls like games I also spend alot of time and money on farming/life sims.. Im not ashamed to admit I love a nice cozy relaxing game as well as something edgy and dark, We all like what we like and thats ok. Looking foward too seeing this channel flourish cause honestly you have super fair and based points of view in my humble opinion. ♥

I kept thinking you look so much like Winona Ryder! If you hear that a lot I'm sorry XD. Enjoyed the review. it was pretty fair, i figured the game would be about as good as you review it as. Its not non stop woke and has some good qualities, but its disappointing for a dragon age game.

I just saw Taash as a teenager and that made literally every action they commeited fine with me. Teenagers are dramatic, stupid, and utterly sincere (or so they think). The point is during the game, they grow. In so much as the game allows.

i totally am on board with your argument BUT i just wanna SAY its so unfair to kind of write ff7 rebirth off as not that impressive because its a remake. the original game was like..100 pixels on a little screen in 1998. rebirth is a masterpiece that sprinkles thoughtful bits of nostalgia over an entirely new game, rather than the other way around (as most remakes definitely tend to be). it kills me to hear it being written off as like, bleh just a "reboot" when it goes so far beyond just that. the developers absolutely deserve some recognition for what they accomplished with remake/rebirth. and if you haven't played it yet you must go right NOW okay alright thank you v much for your time x

Not sure if you have the ability (or desire to mess up your ceiling) to install one but some screw eye hooks mounted to the ceiling would make green screen easy Then display default game cover across it for whatever game you're talking about Or, if that is a chalk board (?) Just drape a greenscreen over it Or or Just roll with a half-complete background for certain videos, like half or more of your time is not spent on with the video showing you, and the background, so while it is cute, it will not have much of an impact on presentstion I think
