That’s the South Devon Railway, the station is Buckfastleigh. It’s a lovely railway to visit

i dont understand why they dont just run it on regular coal, its a heritage railway and even that is apart of the engines heritage
@brunelheritage7 күн бұрын
I see where your coming from, in a very sustainability focused world, where the coal prices have sky rocketed in recent years it's a potential avenue to explore to enable heritage lines to operate and remain profitable and while it's not proven yet, I think it's an initiative worth trialing and great to see the WSR leading the way, be interesting to read the report on the trials once thats released.

@@brunelheritageyeah, its a great point, the railway needs to profit someway!

Are Gwr going to keep a H S T set on the West Somerset Railway?
@brunelheritage7 күн бұрын
This particular set is just being stored I understand for now, WSR may look at the longer term viability of having a HST, or working with a 125 preservation group in the future

I went on the Sunday and enjoyed it very much. I did feel however that things were not running as frequently as they could be, particularly on the larger ‘star’ layouts.

If GWR Locos don't' run well on bad coal, god knows what that'll do it
@ABTrainsYT10 күн бұрын
Well we’re screwed if that happens, they’ll be locked away while the railway runs on diesel but then they’re trying to doing away that, so we may have to have battery trains on the line. Do you see how stupid this net-zero thing is? It’s the death of heritage railways as we know it if we’re not careful.

The present emissions from decent coal is nothing like it was back in steam days.

They were designed for South Wales Coal. Thank's to the massacre of pits how many Welsh mines are there left, open-cast or deep mines? Fros-Y-Fan's future was in some doubt. What about the rest of the UK? Is Tower in Wales still open? The miners bought their own pit. Designing a locomotive around the best coal available is not a terribly good idea.

My father would have liked this. He was a GWR man. He died sometime in the early 90s and had his ashes scattered at Quainton.

Not only great videos but the Intro is one of the best on youtube.. I don't remember seeing high intensity lights on WSR locos before this video .. is this something new....watching the wheels and rods doing their job makes me wonder which does what and when..fascinating..many thanks.

Thanks for the painstaking effort of filming all this. As always there is a very high level of skill on show. Yeovil is a bit far for me to go, but the IPMS Scale Model World exhibition at the Telford International Centre on 9th Nov this year should be a good one, partly as it's less than an hour from me. First one I will have been to since just before the Cosfod show and the draconion covid 'rules' ruined many shows across the country. Looking forward to this one.
