Dead, hard corals look absolutely hammered with filamentous algae at 1:40, 3:00-4:00. Note that all of that algae covered dead coral was also once bleached white. There is no "good news" for that dead coral; it will never come back to life with La Nina's anemic cooler ocean temperatures and the prognosis is not good for those bleached corals either. How deep were you when filming this?

Hi R.O.F. Thanks for youre comment. If I remember correctly, I don't think we were ever deeper than 60 feet. I'm hoping that 2 or 3 recovery years will do wonders for the Bay Islands. Fingers crossed.

Interesting. The wide, backlit shots are all silvery, hazy, monochromatic, but then the close-ups on the coral are such vibrant colors.

Hi Hal. The full light spectrum won't travel through water to those depths. One by one, colors start dropping out with red being the first. So, to see/film those colors down there, you've got to take lights with you.

Lovely video! Are you using the Keldan AF-12-B blue filter with the SF-2 red filter? Or some other combination?
@RoadtripsofUnusualSize
@RoadtripsofUnusualSize 5 ай бұрын
Hi Joss. These aren't Keldan filters, but I'm trying to get that Keldan effect. I have an inexpensive generic red filter behind my wet wide lens. (I really do need to move up to a Spectrum filter.) My lights are from BigBlue and include a set of blue LEDs (the 4600BP). For most footage, I'm using that red filter and my lights' blue LEDs. Thanks for watching!

Hi Eileen. Bring rain gear and patience for the traffic. Mt Ranier NP is huge with at least four major sections. We only saw the Longmire/Nisqually/Southwest unit and I suspect that it's the most popular. Trails and points of interest are very well maintained and well marked. The views of the big mountain are pretty amazing. Will be looking for your photos next fall.
