Also, the used market is pretty soft on these right now because everyone wants more or same as new for a used bike. For this reason, I'm seeing a lot of listings and they are not selling very quickly anymore due to greed. My local dealer actually has a new one in stock and it is currently discounted $200, LOL

I bought a 2005 TW 2 weeks ago, love it. I plan to do some motocamping. It looks like you have the Cycle Racks rear rack. Do you mind sharing which pannier racks and which front rack you have?
@TDub_ADV
@TDub_ADV 3 ай бұрын
Congrats on the TW, you will love it. The front rack is a Manracks rack. www.manracks.com/. I believe Rocky Mountian ATV has an over the light model now too in the Tusk brand as another option. The pannier racks were made by a gentleman who went by Tinman Tim on the TW200 forum. He no longer produces these and has not been active on the TW forum in over 4 years.

I bought the kit for my TW, and the only issue that I had was bleeding the air out of the brake fluid. I went online and found 2 banjo bolts that had bleeders built into them. This worked awesome. I also did the sintered bronze pads. I did not like the brake action with the stock pads, but after I installed the sintered bronze pads, I noticed a remarkable difference. I do indeed love my rear disc. I absolutely HATED the squeaky squawky poor rear drum brakes.
@TDub_ADV
@TDub_ADV 6 ай бұрын
Fantastic. Glad its working out for you. I'm guessing you got one of the newer kits? Im not a fan of the drum either but alas mine is back on the bike. As i feared the original adapter moved around in use and i had to re-center it multiple times in a pretty short amount of miles. Not something i wanted to fiddle with constantly so off it came...
@BuilderofRat
@BuilderofRat 6 ай бұрын
@@TDub_ADV Are you saying the the disc would not run exactly true, like it would wobble a little? Would that make the brake less effective? Look at some of the discs on bikes, they are not even round. They have a wavy outside edge, and they work just fine. I have never checked to see if my disc is perfect or not, but it does work so well. I even extended my brake cam actuating lever to exert more pressure to the shoes, and it was still horrible. I will never go back to the drum. I will check to see if my disk is exactly centered. Either way, I will continue to use it, because it works so well. Would your disc brake not work? I am sorry, I just don't understand maybe.

@TDub_ADV 6 ай бұрын
@@BuilderofRat As explained in the last part of this video, the entire assembly would run off center from the wheel and make the rear wheel hop and upset the rear end of the bike. I have owned bikes with wavy disc's but the difference is the center line of said wavy disc is turning on the same axis as the wheel is. When the adapter would move the disc was moving in an elliptical pattern in relation to the wheel's axis.

@BuilderofRat
@BuilderofRat 5 ай бұрын
@@Fateracing I have no idea. I must have, because I do not have any issues with the disc needing to be trued up. I would think that Bradley would have supplied TDub-ADV with an updated version. They seem like a good outfit. After using the disc for a while, it would hurt my heart to put the drum set up back on. I wonder if they make sintered brass brake shoes. I use to do than on my older bikes that did not have discs. It was a remarkable up-grade in brake performance. They warned that if would wear out the center hub, but I never did. If it did, so what. When I worked at a Honda/Yamaha shop, that was one job that I was pretty good at. And, the TW has a bolt on drum, so for it that would not be an issue.

Just wanted to say, I got this kit for Christmas. Install went perfect, the hub is redesigned and centered just right and the brake line was out of the way for me. You could get it centered by measuring from the outside of the rim to the hub in four spots 45 degrees apart from each other around the rim, but unless the inside of the hub is routered to match the pertrusion on the center of the wheel it won't be long before it walks itself out of center anyway. Same thing with the disc, you could measure from the perimeter of the wheel to get it centered, but the play in the mounting holes will just have it walk itself out of center after a few stops. I see that Bradley took your advice and altered the hub to match the wheel. Good job.

Nah, better for the adapter design to be fixed. The parts moving potential I pointed out in the video is actually a thing. It happened to mine, it moved more than once in a short amount of miles and I had to re-adjust it so the only fix is to make the parts hub centric to keep it from moving which Bradley Performance did for the current kit. I ended up taking mine off since I dont want to have to constantly mess with it. Thats why I have not done a follow up.

I'd be a little leery about a zip tie holding that brake line, they rot awful fast and you don't want that line hitting the tire. That hub adapter needs to be redesigned, I spotted the flaws when you first put it on. Is that printed piece plastic? Brakes get hot, can it melt?

Had major issues with install, could not get brake to bleed properly, using vac brake kit, pumping brake fluid from caliper back to master cylinder still couldnt get it,finally dealer got it to bleed as they stated air was trapped in caliper. All was working good then brake tightened up for unknown reason, warped rotor and ruined pads, had to buy new rotor and pads from Bradley. Now Ive lost brakes, on the stand brake work good but in the field not much braking power. 2nd issue was trying to mount with the Bradley big wheel kit, cannot get caliper on/off rotor with rim supplied by Bradley for big wheel kit, tried to hoist back end and just slip rear wheel out as not enough room between rim and caliper mount. Have to loosen rotor bolts, easy enough to take apart but re-installation is not easy. Oh yea nad stripping the rotor bolts is an issue, be careful.

Great video. I agree with everything you said about the rear wheel conversion. I machined an alignment tool for the hub and disc. This worked out great. I also had an issue with the twist of the brake line and ended up doing the same thing you did with flipping the banjo fitting and straightening it so it runs just to the right of the bleeder valve. This kept the line parallel to the swing arm. But now I have a problem with bleeding the system. I have tried gravity feed and also a vacuum pump but can not get the brake caliper/pistons to engage the disc. I even worked with a mechanic and we know we have all the air out of the system but the brake will not engage. Did you have any issues bleeding the system?

@@TDub_ADV They should be because the unit is brand new. Im thinking that maybe there is some trapped air around the master cylinder because I never feel a solid resistance on the brake pedal. Im going to try a bench bleed by breaking the banjo fitting loose at the master cylinder and see if I have any trapped air in the piston. I called Bradley Performance and left a message. Will try again after the 4th. Will keep you posted. Thanks.

@@robertloudenslager1581 Its possible they may have been damaged when you took it apart. They are pretty soft copper and just the act of removing the banjo bolt will sometimes ruin the washers. I always replace them now because i have been bitten by bad washers in the past. If its not building pressure you either have trapped air or a leak somewhere. its also possible to crack that fitting if your not careful.
