This is categorized as "folk" but I'd say it would be more accurately listed as Baroque Pop.

Icehouse are still a seriously underrated band, they deserve as much credit as INXS and Cold Chisel get for their music from that 80s era. Iva Davies - just so creative! This song - it's so atmospheric, the synths in this, and then when the guitars kick in later in the song - yeah.

If you want to hear some great guitar playing by Richard Thompson, check out "I Don't Know Where I Stand" from his Fairport Convention days. He plays electric guitar with Simon Nicol on acoustic. They brilliantly weave their guitars in and out much like Keith Richards and Brian Jones used to do back in the early Rolling Stones days. Truly magnificent!❤

A song about Mia Farrow breaking up her marriage and then Mia howled at the universe over how wronged she was when she found out about Woody instead of recognizing it a Jupiter sized dose of karma.

Beware of cheating husbands. There will always be young women (not girls unless you are a ped*ophile), and the focus should be on the lying, cheating spouse not the temptations in life.

Remembering Martin Lamble born on August 28, 1949. He was the drummer for British folk rock band Fairport Convention, from just after their formation in 1967, until his death in the band's van crash in 1969. He joined the band after attending their first gig and convincing them that he could do a better job than their then drummer, Shaun Frater. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Lamble

One of her best songs, Hejira, heard this album when I was 18, I am 66 now, often play her album! She is for me the female equivalent of the male Leonard Cohen! She writes beautiful songs with perfect lyrics, as Leonard always did also. Both Canadian , fortunately Joni is still alive, and I love her)Justice, just Ice)) wonderful

. In 1979, I had a Friend named big Belly . When my Wife was at work on Saturdays, 7:00 a.m. thru 3:30 p. m . , Big Billy, and I would smoke good grass, and listen to the stereo . One Saturday morning, my eleven year old Daughter came into the living-room in a short t-shirt, and tight, light purple, cotton panties, and ate her cereal, and watched cartoons . Big Billy, saw her young, plump 🍒 Cherry/Clitoris shape, up front, and shapely aas hole, in back, Big Billy Got a plump, huge, six inch, sausage headda, and I noticed him rearrange it, thru his blue jeans, and underwear . I understood that big Billy, did not have a girlfriend, and it probably had been awhile . That morning I put my young Daughter up on the twin bed in the corner of the living room, with a dark brown pillow case over her head, took her panties off, and said, Ass Up, Head Down, and had her spread her legs a little bit, and displayed my young Daughter's ass, to big Billy . My Daughter, big Billy, and I, called the new game Big Boyfriend, Oil of Olay/Fragrance Free, Cameltoe . She never did tell anyone, and looked forward to Saturday mornings, with big 21 year old, big Billy . 79, thru 82 . faded blur, 😊 .

I asked him once about playing this live. At that time, he said never had. He didn't really say why. He just told me it was in DADGAD dropped to C. Maybe it was a hassle to pull out a new guitar for one song.

What I always find odd is that, very obviously, Bob Dylan cribbed this melody for his own "Bob Dylan's Dream." But while this is about a lost ship in the great unknown North, Dylan's is a seemingly ridiculous song about a 20-something author wishing, wishing, wishing in vain that he could return to his younger 20-something self and find the friends he's lost touch with. Yet Dylan's youngster tale of sorrow is more compelling by far, for me, than this dirge about lost Franklin + crew.

I was in a band that covered this song. It's ok, and for Randy Newman that's better than what a lot of other songwriters were doing at the time. But personally, I'll take any song on Good Old Boys over this particular tune.

The band, the producer, they engineer: they must have been drunk and high when this song was recorded. The guitar just doesn't belong. The rhythm is awful. The only good things are Dr. John and the horns. Yet I love this song.

So deeply sad...bewate of mature husbands who, be they musical geniuses, crave young girls... and break each committment they make. The responsibility is first of all theirs to protect their marriage, and to avoid causing tremendous pain to their devoted wives.
