First thing that comes to mind is the durability of these machines and what they can endure in extreme situations. Secondly those pilots. It comes without saying the quick thinking they can do with a broken aircraft at 3500ft. So much is going on in flight deck and yet they do emergencies with ease. Absolute well done boys!

For me this is exactly why I feel so comfortable flying, everything handled perfectly. It's only when extremely tragic circumstances all line up at once that we get something like Jeju Air 2216.

The sound of the huffing engine must've been intense inside the plane.

I would be interested in hearing the other air traffic controllers inform the other pilots in other aircraft near the airport of what has just happened and how they are directed for the next few minutes

I wonder what type of bird it was. Probably something approaching 2lbs or more, sparrow sized birds go through the engine with little damage. Except when there is a big flock of them ingested.

Despite the best efforts of the bird unit there is always the possibility of one stupid bird.

What would happen if both engines had a bird strike?
@MisterM-S
@MisterM-S 3 ай бұрын
It was simply a bird that hit engine number 2, causing a reduction in its power. If both engines had been affected, the plane (with a little more work) could land back at the airport.

People on other videos ask why planes can’t go around bird migration paths as if bird strikes happen at 30,000 to 40,000 feet in the air. This is what most bird strikes are… the fuck are you supposed to do about this to save the bird.

Used this video (many years ago now 😂) for my flight instructor course for my presentation which I did on bird strikes. Years later I would have a suspected bird strike of my own. Great display of aviation by all involved and still a great watch.

ATC was poor. The crew stated their intentions and were repeatedly interrupted when they would’ve been going through their QRH. Unless Manchester was closed there was no reason for them to divert to Liverpool, yet that was offered twice. Poor.
